Depending on the size engine most are located under the plenum or near the left rear of it.. Of course the are 4 EGR items on this Ford. Valve, solenoid, Relay, & Manifold switch

I took my moms 2001 ford taurus to be inspected. It fail due to EGR sensor.. Machnic said sensor needed to be cleaned. After taking apart he said valve was badly cloged. Soaked overnight and said it would...

I would highly suspect the "EGR backpressure sensor"
From experience and many conversations, a clooged EGR valve is almost unheard of these day. Get to an auto part store, were they can tell you what problem code(s) your car is getting, and possible good advice.
Sincerely, another 2001 Taurus owner.

99 Taurus SE where do I find a DPFE sensor, both on the car and auto parts stores?

Do yourself a favor and do NOT buy one from the parts Store. buy it from the dealer. It has hoses attached to the EGR pipe, so its easy to find.

Where is the EGR pressuure sensor at. Need to replace it.

Ford Taurus SES 3.0 L 6-cylinder
EGR valve are directly behind the intake manifold.

I listen from Taurus owners that just had the same problem (EGR insufficient and EGR excessive) and they replaced the EGR valve and the 4 oxygen sensors (if you do this use Ford sensors). This didn't fix the problem; then changed the Vacuum Regulator Solenoid and a tube mounted sensor part numbers F63Z-9J459-AA, and 4U7Z-9J460-AA. this fixed my check engine light and code issues, as well as it stopped idling so high that it caused the trans to jump into gear. It sometimes jumped so hard that he thought he had a broken motor mount.

Good luck (remember rated this).

Yes i have a 98 taurus i have two codes that i need to know what they are p1944 and p1401 dicscount auto said it has to do with the trans but couldn't tell me what the codes are

The P1401--EGR Sensor Circuit High Voltage Detected
I can not tell you what the problem is,without the vehicle and doing some tests.

The P1944- I don't have, but it apears to be,as you were told, trans related. Maybe an output sensor on trans?

Theses auto stores don't help much,by pulling codes and leaving you hanging.

What problems are you having? Obviously, drivability and shifting.

EGR EVP Sensor

Right on top of the EGR, (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), valve, which is on top of the intake.

Looks like this,

Now, let's talk. The guy's and gal's at the auto parts stores, are just there to sell auto parts, not diagnose cars, pickup trucks, and so on. Nice that they try to help, but an ODB II scanner just shows generic information.

What I'm stating by that, is that you could buy that expensive part, and this may not cure your problem, and/or you could damage your computer if the procedure isn't done correctly.

The P1400 code states,
1.DPF EGR signal circuit shorted to ground
2.DPF EGR signal VREF circuit open
3.DPF EGR sensor is damaged or has failed
4.PCM has failed (Powertrain Control Module)
5.TSB 4-3-1 contains repair information for this trouble code

You need a scanner that is the NGR, (New Generation Star), or has the capability to read
Ford Enhanced Data.

This connects to the PCM in the harness. (It's located on top of the engine) If the procedure isn't done right, you can "Let the smoke out", of the PCM.
You also have to reset the computer to clear the error code.

I know shop time is expensive, but sometimes it leads to less expense in the long run.

Have power but when i turn key i get nothing. no click,no starter???

I had a similiar problem, I had a bad sensor at the back of the engine, it was connected by 2 hoses to the EGR pick up tube.
I unplugged the sensor and the car started, I drove it to the parts store and replaced the part and it ran great after.

Egr valve insufficient flow detected

You probably pulled a code p0401, insufficient egr flow. Your DPFE sensor is more than likely at fault. There has been a lot of trouble with these sensors. Then reset CEL or disconnect battery for 5 minutes.

EGR valve

Get a repair manual for about $25 at Auto Zone for your make and model. It will show you where it is and step by step instructions with pictures to repair or replace just about anything on your auto.
