Do this, remove the negative battery cable, remove the red wire from the alternator, tape the end of that red wire and let it hang behind the alternator. Reinstall the negative battery cable, try to start the car the next morning. If it starts, your alternator is grounded causing current draw. If it doesn't start, remove both battery cables, reinstall the red field wire to the alternator, hook one end of an OHM meter to the negative battery cable, the other end to the positive battery cable. Check readings, it shouldn't be over 180 ohm's. If it is, start removing fuses until you get a low reading. Once you get a low reading while pulling a fuse, that fuse pulled with a low reading is the circiut problem, Good luck, Gary

You have a draw, something is pulling the battery down when the car is not in use, unplug the alternator, and let the car set over night to see if the battery stays up,make sure the light in the trunk, inside, and hood, are not left on,if the vehicle will start up the next day, then the alternator is bad.

Brand new battery and alternator but keeps turning off. I have to keep jumping the battery. What's wrong?

Check the alternator output with a multimeter. You should get14volts out of the alternator (I purchase brand new alternator and sometimes there no good), it happens, check the big wire coming out of the alternator, if you dont get at lease 14volts it's no good (it's got to generate more than 12volts).good luck.

Battery keeps going dead overnight. I've already changed the alternator which tested to be bad and still having the same problem

if you installed a new battery as well as a new alternator, it should not go dead overnight. if you have a short in the vehicle that will drain a new battery that rapidly, the cable would have been melted already. although, dome lights do have a tendency to drain batteries, but not overnight. use a multimeter to check the battery voltage while the motor is running. it should read above 13 volts DC signifying that the alternator is indeed charging the battery.

Have a 1994 blazer s10. keep replacing batteries and they go dead within few days! Where is a common short?

I'll start by saying if a battery goes dead you should be able to recharge it without having to replace it.
If it goes dead overnight something may be draining it, or the alternator may not be charging enough.
A mechanic would check alternator output and check all of the circuits for a power drain.

2005 chrysler 300 battery keep going dead

Try charging the battery with a small 10 amp battery charger with the negetive terminal removed, remove the charger and let set overnight. Hook the battery back up the next day and see if the car will start. If so, the alternator is bad. Drive to your nearest parts store and they can check the alternator to be sure it is bad. or just skip my first step and just go to the parts store, they will check the battery and alternator for free.

My battery is brand new and my alternator is new both in good working condition but somehow overnight my battery drains.Even after a full charge in the morning i would have a dead battery. help me

you are looking in the wrong place. something is draining the battery while the ignition is off. replacing the battery and alternator is never going to fix this. you have to have someone troubleshoot the electrical system and figure out which doodad is killing the battery. usual
suspects are lights which aren't noticed as in the trunk and glove box, the anti-theft and door lock systems, remote start, clocks, etc.

One of those buggers is draining your system, you have to find it and kill it.
