Question about 2003 Nissan Altima

1 Answer

2004 altima 2.5 At times the engine will act as if it cannot accelerate. If you try a fast acceleration, the engine will bog. recently, while going about 20mph and trying to accelerate, bogs down. The car acted this way for 10 miles. I got out, waited 1hour, strted it up and ran fine, even if I tried a hard acceleration. Took it to a mechanic, it had two catalytic codes. He sais the converter is overheating and needs replacement. 120K miles

This is the symptoms for the cats being stopped up,if this is so,the vacuum reading will be low,and upon acceleration, the vacuum will stay the same or drop.Drive the car long enough, they will slow the vehicle down again.

Wheel nuts loose, or stones in hub caps, do you get the noise rolling down hill ? , if not its engine, retrace your repair.

Why does my vehicle bog down when I accelerate from a start?

Try a different machine to read the codes then post a reply ,i have no idea what could cause this on this engine as remember that anything over 1.6/2.0 litre is regarded as a big negine here in europe ,most i work on are under 1.2 ,but if its not accelerating from idle then i would suspect a vacumn leak to one of the sensors but not having much practical experiance then i couldnt say exactly

When accelerating fast the engine cuts out suddenly then returns to normal multiple times. If I try to accelerate at a lower pace then it works fine. It feels like an electronic problem

Engine ECU is provided with a high RPM ignition cut off. Perhaps that is what is confusing you. When you accelerate at a fast rate, probably you get higher RPM's and the ECU cuts the ignition to protect the engine from damage.

My 2003 Nissan Altima won't accelerate. A friend told me to turn the car off and pull up on the gas pedal and try to start again which worked twice. The car will start and idle but acts as if the...

The accelerator is a potentiometer connected to a pedel and the wires go directly to the ECM. If the AWU( accelerator Working Unit) was bad the engine would run constant at 1800-200 rpm. Do any codes come up? I will do some more research and repost.

05 Altima, car will not go when the accelerator is pressed

Does you car engine speed up when you hit the accelerator when the car is in park or nuetral? If it does then it may be computer problem. If it does not then it sounds like a accelerator cable is disconnected.
