Oldsmobile intrigue 2000 coolant light will not go out even though the tank is up to fill line--how do i turn off the light

Thank you for the information re my coolant light. Unfortunately, the other issue with the coolant is that it is s-l-o-w-l-y leaking antifreeze. I have to top it off about once a week. I'm told it is a head gasket problem. But, when attached to a computer at the mechanic's, there is no indication that there is a problem with the head gasket. The garage folks assure me there are no leaking hoses, etc.

The coolant level sensor is not on the radiator on this vehicle!! The level sensor is beneath the coolant reservoir. Replace the entire reservoir, rockautoparts.com has it for $60 new and includes the sensor!!

You do not turn off light this vehicle has a low coolant sensor that goes bad it is located in the passenger side of radiator side tank it is held in place with a wire clip and has o-ring to prevent coolant from leaking out around it

does this vehicle have a v-6 engine if so you probably have intake gaskets leaking and not a headgasket 3.1 and 3.4 also 3.8 is notorious for leaking intake gaskets alot of shops misdiagnoise this problem you see it,s a catch all when you replace headgaskets the intake gaskets are replaced at same time and the problem is fixed but the customer paid extensive labor to have headgaskets replaced that did not need also on your intrigue your low coolant sensor may be located in the coolant tank rather than the radiator have seen in both places.leaking headgaskets usually will show up with overheating issues coolant in oil or oil in coolant a slow leaking headgasket generally will cause a miss to occur when first started and then disappear good luck and hope this helps, sincerely LYNN CRANK

Thecranks is bang on. Intake gaskets are a big problem, not head gaskets. Also, the sensors were a common problem.

If the car is a 2000 it has the 3.5 LX5 shortstar engine... which does not have intake gaskets that would leak due to GM dexcool coolant eating them away. Coolant does NOT flow through the intake on this engine (only place is through the throttle body), there is a crossover tube on the drive side of the engine that the water flows through instead of the intake. You can usually take that sensor and clean it off/polish it with a brass brush or steel wool. It has a steel clip on it.

Sounds like there is still air pockets in the coolant system, let idle to full temp with the cap off and the car on an upword angle to alow air to move then while engine running and coolant if needed to hot mark on the coolant tank.

What could be the problem on my 2000 oldsmobile intrigue, the turn signals blink fast when signal is on but the front just stays steadily on. when hazards are on the back lights run fine the front lights...

the front stays on steadily because you have duel element bulbs, the filiment for the turn signal is blown out-replace it with a new bulb, when you have it out check too for rust in the socket, they do that (I have a 2000 Intrigue w/140,000 miles)

There is a light lit up on my dashboard. On the left hand side of the dashboard there is a red box with a liquid image with a arrow pointing down. What does this mean? What fulid am I low on?

this is the warning light for the coolant level in the rad(or overflow bottle.)check the rad and overflow bottle for the proper coolant level and top up,be aware sometimes these sensors act up even though the levels are proper,in which case the sensor may need to be replaced.the sensor is located in the radiator tank that runs along the side of the rad core and is part of the radiator.it is a single wire sensor.

I need to know what the coolant fill procedure is for my 2000 olds intrigue . i do not have an owners manual

What engine? For the 3.5l, jack up the right front. Remove the bleed screw that is in the upper right of the radiator. Fill the coolant recovery tank until the coolant flows out of the bleed screw. Put a paper towel or rag between the outlet on the side of the bleed screw and the headlight. Screw the bleed screw until it barely closes. Run the engine and open the bleed screw until coolant streams out of the outlet. Close and let engine warm till thermostat opens. Carefully crack open bleed screw very slightly and let air out - careful, this is killer hot steam and water. Check coolant level. Unjack car and recheck coolant level after 4 or 5 thermal cycles (cold start, warm til thermostat opens, cool down).

There two 10MM nuts on top and the hoses it should pull straight up once you take those nuts off. Be carefull there is a wire connection on the bottom for the low coolant light.
