Replaced alternator now car won't start

A few days ago the alternator in my Taurus went bad so I replaced it with a new one. Now my car won't start at all. It turns over but it won't catch. It was running fine before the alternator went bad.

Recheck your alternator replaacement sounds like a trapped wire or a pulled loose connector. the crank sensor is located in that area

Why won't my car start with a new alternator and battery

turning over and not firing would indicate your problem is with the fuel delivery. You can do a fuel pressure test with a kit from an auto store or have someone do it for you. You will be checking for one of three things. Bad fuel filter, bad fuel pump or a bad fuel relay.

I have an '87 Taurus with a 3.0. Alternator went out on a cold day, car died, and after recharging battery and replacing the alternator, car will not start, due to 1) no fuel pressure (and no hum of pump)...

sounds like a blown fuse look at the connections at the starter relay that the battery cable connects to these wires the connect to the bolt on the relay that the battery cable conects to are fuseable links and you describe one of them as blown. You need to look for power with a test light to find the power and the ightion switch is a high failure rate part on this car and they were involved in a recall many years ago. thier so old now as you just chage them as Ford doesn't houner the recall any more the main relays also rust out at their connectors and the relays themselfs go bad too.

A few days ago my serptene belt flew off. I replaced the next day, then i had to replace the tensioner pulley. I started the truck and every thing seemed fine. Then i turned the truck off and inpected...

you could have an alternator problem, I am wandering if the serptene belt is on properly or tight. if the belt is slipping and not turning the alternator pulley then it will not charge you battery and if you drive it the new battery will go dead and the alternator is not charging it so it will not start.
i would charge the battery and start the car and watch the belt and the alternator and see if the pulley is turning, they will also make a squelling sound if loose.
hope this helps

Yes....very possible especially if you did not get a new one...remanufactured ones are not guaranteed "new"....but they have new parts. Swap it again.

Buick Century had the same problem...I went through two...failed bearings and busted two belts in 3 weeks.
