My Jeep is overheaeting, I have replaced the

My Jeep is overheating, I have replaced the tension that the belt is on. The radaitor was replaced due to a crack in it from it overheating and now the truck is still over heating. Can you help me? I was told that I need a new motor but I have already replaced it once. The head gaskets and motor were replaced about 1 1/2 year ago.

Try replacing the overflow tank cap, the cap can be pressured checked. If it can't hold the pressure, it will cause the car to overheat slightly or majorly. This is something that a lot of shops and people overlook. Is the belt tight, if not it won't turn the water pump pulley to keep water flowing correctly. Do you see water leaking from any area? Usually if the pump is bad or going out it has a (weep) hole that water will leak from.

1996 jeep cherokee sport with 4.0 does not have a tensioner on the fan belt. How do you change it?

One of the idler pulleys has a built in spring loaded tensioner. You have to use a ratchet to turn it, which relieves tension on the belt while removing and also when replacing the belt.

2005 grand cherokee squealing and loss of coolant

Check belt tension, squeeling is most likely due to belt slippage. Have you noticed any fluid leaking from under your Jeep? Coolant level drop could be from bad water pump, when the pump needs replacing, water flows out of a "weep hole". It could be leaking onto your belt also, causing it to squeel

Tech says serpentine belt needed to be replaced. after changing the belt 2 more times, still cannot use air conditioner or defrost due to loud squealing from belt and it pulls power down from alternator....

Your vibration damper may be going bad!
It sounds like a belt problem....but isnt load sensitive right? Yeah....that's what they sound like. Especially the part where they squeal on start up.

Have the tensioner replaced too just in case.

How do i replace my water pump

it is located in the block of the engine. Follow your radiator hoses to the block. The top is where your thermostat is and the bottom is where your water pump is. ------------- start by taking off the shroud around fan blade, bolts on top of radaitor. pop in plugs on bottem. Shroud will slip by blade with radiator loose. Loosen bolts from tensioner and slip fan belt off Use a ratchet to take four bolts off of fan remove it set aside. Loosen all bolts from power sterring pump only one will have to be removed. From there you can slip out and replace water pump without much trouble. ------------ this will help.

Jeep cherokee country tensioner pulley noise

May be a weak tensioner that needs replacing. Make sure you clean pulleys well with brake cleaner or similar as well. I have had one with similar problem, that Gator back belt was causing it. I'm not 100% convinced that a notched belt will get as good a grip as a complete rib all the way around the belt. Just doesn't add up to me. If you compare that to tire grip, then you'd be telling me that snow tires would work better on the Nascar circuit?

Lose belt on Jeep Liberty 2007 4x2 3.7L V6.

Most Jeeps use the power steering pump to adjust belt tension. there is a slide bracket at the bottom and a pivot bolt on top. adjustment is made by tightening a bolt at the end of the lower bracket. I have also seen this arrangement used on an idler pulley right below the pump but I may be thinking of some other vehicle.

The tensioner won't release on my jeep

If your tensioner will not release pressure then you will require a new tensioner. These units do loose the ability to apply proper tension and they fatigue over time. Also, make sure that the belt you have is the proper length.

2000 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 liter engine timing belt replacement

If you have the same pulley arrangement that most 4.0 engines have that pulley is an idler not a tensioner. Your power steering pump has a pivot bolt, and a slide under the pump. You adjust belt tension using the pump.
