I need help with my 2001 toyota avalon

Might not be the injectors tapping - the fuel tank breather vent valve can tap very loudly sometimes.

Trying things is not a way to discover what is wrong except by pure chance. Try thinking differently - if the engine is in good condition and the right amount of fuel is being injected and ignited at the right time and neither the intake or exhaust is being strangled the engine should run normally, but it doesn't so at least one of the requirements isn't being met.

The way to discover which requirement isn't being met and why is to start at the basics and work systematically through things like valve timing, fuel pressures and delivery volume, injection quality and so on until it is time to view live data with some good diagnostic equipment if you haven't already found the cause.

I have a 2006 Corolla with 98500 km on the clock. The car seems to be sluggish on pull away up to about 50 km/h. Higher speeds the acceleration is fine. What could this be?

This could either be a transmission issue or an engine issue. Check if the sluggishness coincides with the RPM moving at the same slow rate. If it is it could be the engine. You may have to check the vacuum hoses for leaks or may have to spray some carb cleaner into the intake manifold. Check the fuel filter if it needs replacing and check for leaks at the side of the engine. It could be a leaking or a bad VVT solenoid. If nothing wrong is observed on the engine then it may be just fluid issues with the transmission. Check the level and if it needs replacing have the filter replaced as well.

What is required for a 2001 toyota echo tune up?

I also have a Echo and would suggest:
Air filter, spark plugs. If it is still sluggish I would then replace the upstream 02 sensor. The fuel filter is apparently lifetime so it should be okay.

No heat/defrost 01 corolla

Sounds like you have air trapped in the heater core when you flushed the heater core. loosen the upper most heater core hose and run the engine untill coolant seeps out. Wait until the coolant has reached running temperature.

2000 corolla sluggish when accelerating, fine at higher RPMs

Try changing out your distributer cap and rotor button. Let me know if that solves your problem.

Zero throttle response and sluggish accelertation

Wow, great description...I suspect the catalyst is bad...(in the exhaust) but try this cheap fix.
go to Advance Auto Parts and buy a can of "SeaFoam" ($8) and following the directions add to fuel and drive for at least 100 miles...see if that helps...if not, have a mechanic look at the catalytic convertor/exhaust
Good Luck

1991 Toyota Corolla loud and sluggish

You need to do a compression test on the engine cylinders. It appears one of the cylinders is not firing and dragging the rest of the engine down in power. The compression test will show if one of the cylinders has a problem.
