The light being on means the system has detected a problem in one or more sensors. The vibration is the ABS modulating the brakes to prevent skidding because it has detected a wheel that is locked up. That wheel is most likely the one sensor that is giving you the error.

WHEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL DOES THE PEDAL SEEM TO JUMP? IF SO THE MODULE HAS SEEN A WHEEL SPEED SENSOR MPH DROP SIGNALING A BRAKE LOCK UP . OR LOSS OF WHEEL SPEED , IF THATS THE CASE THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM IS A BROKEN WIRE IN THE VEHICLE HARNESS NEAR THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR USUALLY WHERE THE HARNESS MAKES A U TURN UPWARDS .
IS THE ABS LIGHT ON ALL THE TIME ORDOES IT RESET WITH A KEY CYCLE?
FIRST OF ALL THE TRACTION CONTROLL AND THE ABS SYSTEM ARE BASICALLY THE SAME SYSTEM.
THERE SHOULD BE SERVICE CODES FOR THE MALFUNCTIONS , FIRST THING IS TO RETRIEVE ALL ABS CODES THEN MONITOR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR INPUTS WHILE DRIVING
Is it the frt wheel sensor setting code again? If so I would check the connectors at wheel bearings I found most often terminal tension weak need to tighten or replace harness
Traction control systems measure wheel speed differences by various
methods to determine if one wheel is rotating faster than the other. A
heavier buildup of ice/snow could be affecting wheel rotation speed
causing the TCS to engage. ABS works by sensing slippage at the wheels
during braking, and continually adjusting braking pressure to ensure
maximum contact between the tires and the road. Suggest
clearing out the wheel wells now and periodically throughout the winter. Also remove ice/snow
build up between the wheel and the brake pads/rotor.
I can't answer the question about the gas fumes, but I had the same problem last year with the "Service Traction Sysytem" message and the Trac and ABS lights coming on in my Impala. Mine turned out to be because of a bad wheel bearing, that was causing the ABS and traction system not to work. I'm not sure if you've experienced this, but another thing that would happen with mine was that I would go to brake and have a hard time depressing the brake pedal, almost like it was pushing back. That is the point when the Trac and ABS lights came on.
The traction control system uses the abs wheel sensors to detect wheel speed if the abs light is on the entire abs system will disable giving you regular braking but it will also stop feeding info to the traction control
2005 Impala it turn off some times when I am coming to a complete stop or when I am slowing down but it starts right back up with no problem can you help me
A common cause for an ABS light is a broken wire to one of the front wheel speed sensor, or the sensor itself is bad. The sensor is part of the hub/wheel bearing assembly. A problem in the ABS causes the traction control system to be dissabled, thus turning on that light.
