1989 chevy s-10 6 cyl. 4.3 starts fine but when i

1989 chevy s-10 6 cyl. 4.3 starts fine but when i put it in drive i get this noise like gears sliping stop moving and noise goes away . is it a bad transmission or could it be something else can some body help me with this ? thanks

The series 700R4 that should be in your truck is known for having problems with the reaction shell inside the trans breaking and it will make a grinding noise. If you have 4WD it also could be transfer case issue .

make sure the reservoir is full
engine off and pump the clutch pedal slowly about 5-10 times
while holding the pedal down have assistant open the bleeder on the master located in the trans

if you get a good squirt then your concern is the master
if no squirt then replace the slave

neither job is quick but the slave is 1/2 time

Very possible you have a internal fault in the drive gear only.I would suggest that you remove it and have it rebuilt.We have a local company that rebuilds them for around 300 dollars.

Rear end locked up

you will probably find damage in the differential. remove cover and inspect.on one of the bolts there should be a metal tag with numbers on it .dont lose. you will need to order gear set.

well i would check your universal joint's put the parking brake on and block the wheels put the car in n and reach under truck and see if there is play in universal if so need replacement if you have two peace drive shaft check your center support bearing good luck if these check good it could be in transmission good luck redoil

Our Chevy 1989 S-10 seems to run good until we put it in gear, and try to drive. For awhile it was doing fine as long as we put a little pressure on the gearshift so it was at the top most part of drive....

I think the firstr thing you should do is check for loose ground wires, and wires that are being pinched. Check your battery cables for tightness on both ends. It seems like something is shorting out when your engine tips when you put it in gear. Check all the wires that are anywhere near the transmission. Good luck.

Distributor cap firing order 1993 chevy cheyenne truck v6

Firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2 cyls. # 1-3-5 on drivers side front to back and cyls. # 2-4-6 passenger side front to back.
