Question about 1983 Chevrolet Camaro
I have an 83 z28 camar, it has a 3 speed with overdrive automatic. It doesn't feel like all of the power is getting to the wheels. When accelerating if I let off the gas it instantly drops around 500 rpms. I'm wondering what would cause this and how it can be fixed
I'd put my money on the transmission starting to slip. You are losing revs because the clutches are worn and not making proper contact. If you haven't recently changed the tranny fluid and filter, now would be a good time to do it and add a full bottle of Lucas trans oil while you are doing it. This will help to extend the life of the trans a little longer while you figure out what to do with it, rebuild or replace. I've had pretty good luck with this, getting as much as a year out of the tranny. Hope this helps.
