How do i change the oil?

I'm assuming this is for a vehicle.
Read the owners manual and purchase the correct oil and oil filter for the vehicle before starting.
The workers at any automotive store can help with that also if you don't have the information needed.
I like to do the air filter at the same time, you don't have to but it's good to.
If possible it's always to change the oil warm NOT HOT!
Park the vehicle, put on the parking brake then open the hood/engine compartment.
Look for the oil fill cap and loosen but do not remove.
Directly under the engine there is an oil pan. On the pan there should be a bolt, make sure your not messing with the transmission.
Put a drain pan under the bolt then remove bolt letting the oil drain into the pan.
Once it is just barely dribbling out reinstall the drain bolt.
Some have what is called a crush washer, either way DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!!! If you do you could strip the threads then you will have BIG problems.
Now find the oil filter, put drain pan under that also and remove the oil filter. Sometimes people over-tighten them so it might be a little tough.
Once that is removed pour a little of the new oil into the filter and rub some on the rubber ring on the new filter. Now install new filter. It only has to be hand tight, you do not need to tighten it with a wrench of any kind.
MAKE SURE THE DRAIN BOLT HAS BEEN REINSTALLED then remove oil fill cap on the top of the engine and fill oil to manufacturer specs.
Check oil level with dip stick,if good reinstall oil fill cap and dispose of oil correctly at a recycle center.

How do i change my oil?

Remove filler cap,
lift car
then from under the car remove oil pan drain plug.
Allow oil to drain into an oil waste pan.
Change oil filter also ..located under skid plate..use filter wrench to remove filter. Be careful as filter is full of oil ..drain in waste pan
wipe filter mounting plate clean..put a thin coating of oil on new filter gasket before spinning it on to the mounting plate..hand tighten and then tighten about 3/4 more turn.. reinstall drain plug. do not over tighten or you can strip the threads. Install correct viscosity and amount of oil start engine. let run to get pressure up. shut off engine, check level with dipstick and close cap....you are done.

Where to find oil filter

It probably is located under a plastic cap with a hex nut on it. This cap is located on the engine near the radiator. The filter has no metal casing. Your engine is the metal casing. You need to purchase a special socket at a auto parts store to remove the cap. Make note of how the filter position is so that you place the new filter back in properly and not upside down. Place a new o ring on the plastic cap with a small amount of oil. Screw the cap back on by hand as far as you can to prevent the plastic threads from stripping. Then use the socket with ratchet to tighten. Do not over tighten the cap.

I can't get the oil filter on my 2001 ford windstar to break loose. i tried an open faced oil filter wrench and it just kept slipping. i tried a oil filter cap and it started to strip the end of the...

WOW, That is bad news. If the wrench was stripping the end and the slip wrench would grip the outside that tells me there is a serious problem. I have seen this problem before and found that it is usually a result of the filter being put on too tight at the previous change or the gasket wasn't lubricated before it was screwed down. The only choice left you tried was the screwdriver through the canister, the only thing there is that the screwdriver has to penetrate both side of the filter in order to work. Make sure you are turning it to the left, counterclockwise, as you look up at it from the ground. Since all of these failed already the only choices I can think of is to try putting an oil rag around the canister then put the slip wrench back on and try to remove it. If that fails then you are going to have to use a Long, Large Flat tip screwdriver and a hammer and essentially chisel it loose. Obviously you can drive the vehicle like it is. As a last resort I would tow it to a shop and have them remove it. They have air hammers they can use to get it off or a very large pair of vise grips.

Where is oil filter on 2006 hhr 2.2?

Hello, the oil filter location is on the front of the engine, just below the right side of intake manifold.

  • Use a 32 mm (1 1/4 in) socket on the hex on top of the oil filter cap, or an oil filter wrench on the outside diameter of the oil filter cap.
  • Remove the oil filter cap and filter.
  • Remove the filter from the cap.

Where is the oil filter 2007 santa fe v6 not under plastic cover

    Hello,

It is located on the top of you engine compartment, under the hood, to the right (Driver Side) of the engine and left of your battery. You need to take off the plastic engine cover (two bolts and four screw nuts) to expose it. It is cylinder in shape with a black plastic cap, which screws off to show the oil filter. The filter is different than your normal one, it doesn't have a outside metal cover to it. It looks like a air filter but round. Also in the box with your new oil filter comes two "O" rings, one small and one big. The big one replaces the "O" ring at the top of the screw part of your black cap and the small one goes on the bottom of the same cap.

    Take care.

Where is my oil filter on my f250 2003 6.0?

On top of the engine, it is the larger black cap slightly right of center at the front of engine. Loosen it completely and pop the filter up before draining the oil or you will leave a quart of dirty oil in there. Be sure to install a new O ring and oil the O ring. Don't use aftermarket filters that are filter and cap all in one if you can help it. Tighten the cap fully after replacement.

I need to change my oil and filter on a BMW 745I 2002, does anyone know how to do it.

The oil filter is located underneath the vehicle next to the drain plugand accessed through a removable trim cover. If I remember correctly the drain plug is a 7mm allen. The oil filter has a drain plug in it to predrain before removing the filter cap. I do not recommend removing the plug because it strips out sometimes. Instead you need to use a socket and loosen the cap slowly. Your engine will take 8qts bmw syn 5w30 oil. I like the factory oil because it is proven extended life oil. When reinstalling the drain plug make sure to replace the crush washer. Also, make sure to replace the oring on the oil filter cap and lube before reinstalling.

The oil filter is not located on the bottom of the car in the Eco-tec engines like you may be used to seeing. It is actually in the upper area of the engine.

Open the hood and it will be slightly to the driver side of the intake manifold. (Black plastic looking set of tubes that go into top of engine). It will be an aluminum cylinder with a black plastic cap that has a molded "nut" on the top for removal of the cap. Just unscrew the cap. The filter will be clipped into the cap. Just pull it off and push new filter onto the cap and screw back into housing.
