Need to reprogram an existing 2003 'S' Type Jaguar key fob. Replacing the battery did not solve the problem. Any suggestions?

Your key FOB is easily programmed by yourself without the need of computer, here is how: Push and hold the trip computer button on the left stalk, while holding the button turn the ignition ON and OFF several times untill you hear a confirmation tone from the glovebox area, when the tone is heard, release the button and remove the key from the ignition, immediately after push any button on the Key FOB and you'll hear another tone that confirms the programming.  the other procedure is :-- Open the driver side door.Turn the ignition switch to the 'auxiliary' position, then turn the ignition switch to the 'ON' position and back to the 'auxiliary' position four times. *This must be done fairly quickly. If you have done it correctly, you will hear a chime come from the GEM*Turn the ignition switch to 'OFF' position.Remove the key from the ignition. To program the transmitter, press any key within ten seconds. **If it worked, you should hear another chime come from the GEM**Close the door. Then check.
In some cases this procedure does not help. In that case it can  be done through a electronic diagnostic tool at a dealership or workshop. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried both of your recommendations but had no joy. Any other ideas or should I just bite the bullet and take it to the Jaguar dealer?

Its really strange, this key fob is the spare one that is hardly ever used. The one that's used daily is working fine.

2003 Jaguar S-Type, programming a key fob

If its a new key fob the only way you can program it is this the factory scan tool, u'll have to take it to a dealership for them to do this and they will charge you .5 hrs for labor.only x-types can be programmed without the jaguar software. Im guessing it will cost you between 40 and 50 bucks to have them program it.

2003 Jaguar S-Type, programming a key fob

The switchblade key would need to be compatable with your ignition switch barrel. Only normally available from jag dealers who check the Jag owners register before supplying you a replacement.
The older type seperate fobs could be programmed by switching the ignition on and off 8 times (allowing all functions to settle) and on the 9th switch on - press a button on each fob and then switch off. to test use a good fob to lock the car then try the reprogammed fob to unlock/lock. Sometimes this works first time - sometimes needs a couple of tries.
