No it can't, if sensor is bad, would be an open circuit, if bad will make your transmission shift bad.

Error code P0123 and will not shift into OD

IDK if you have more than one problem. Code P0123: throttle position sensor/switch a circuit high input. Plausible causes would include, TPS not mounted correctly, TPS not properly adjusted, Wiring to the TPS is damaged (ground wire touching another wire), or the TPS sensor is defective. Your symptoms could be caused by an electrical or a mechanical failure. First repair this code and see if it fixes your driveability issue. Please write back and let me know how you are making out, good luck.

2kd-ftv engine problem p1226 fuel line malfunction

Possible causes of the P1226 code include:
  • Faulty electric throttle control actuator, throttle position sensor 2
  • Faulty throttle control actuator harness is open or shorted, throttle position sensor 2
  • Electric throttle control actuator circuit has poor electrical connection, throttle position sensor 2
To nail down the exact cause of the code, do a visual inspection for lose wires and connections at the sensor, or damage to the sensor body itself. If no problems with the wiring and connections are detected, a worn/damaged electric throttle control actuator is likely at fault. Signs of a bad throttle control actuator include erratic acceleration, and unresponsive throttle, and poor fuel economy.

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 starts surging and stalling after warming up or if throttle is punched to the floor. Restarts and runs good for 10 min. and repeats the acting up.

Are there any service lights coming on from the dash. Sounds like a throttle position sensor but the service engine light should be on if the sensor is defective.
