Chev hrr. Radiator. Fan won't come on

What is model year? How hot does the engine get in degrees F? Some fans won't come on till about 220 degrees F. Did you check voltage and ground at the fan connector? Sometimes, you can use jumper wires off the battery, to see if fan will run.

I can't rule out a fuse issue. Can you check applicable trouble codes? Your coolant temp sensor could have an issue? On some makes and models if you turn on the ac, the fan will run. Also, some makes and models, if you unplug the coolant temp sensor, the fan will run all the time. With model year, I can look up the fan wiring.

The vehicle is 2004 buick century. sometimes the temp guage rises and comes back down. during this time, clod air blows. sometimes the temp guage is 1/2 way and cold air blows. thermostat has been changed....

is your electric fans running constantly. and most times then not you`ll need a water temp sensor or water temp relay. usually the temp sensor on that model comes usually next to the thermostat with a little wired plug on top. or on the radiator. either way pull the plug while the motor is cold. unscrew the sensor and screw the new one in and replace the electric plug back on top of the sensor. 2 things: Cold motor, have every thing set up and ready because when you take out the sensor the coolant will start to come out. you will not loose much if you work quick. keep rags or paper towels below the sensor to keep coolant off the motor and smelling when it gets hot. you have also pour or hose off coolant after your done installing the new coolant temp sensor.

2000 landrover overheating

Start the engine and warm up. Feel the upper and lower radiator hoses while it is warming up. You should feel heat suddenly in one of the hoses-usually the top hose. If it does not get hot but the engine get hoter than 1/2 way up the guage then you have a bad thermostat.

Engine coolant fan wont come on. The fan motor is fine. whats next?

You still have many other components in that system that has to be in working order for the cooling fan to work properly. The cooling fan is turned on when engine temp reaches a predetermined temp, usually around 220-230 degrees F. the ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor siganls the ECM (Engine Control Module) to ground the cooling fan relay or cooling fan module(if equipped) and if the cooling fan fuse is good and the fan has power to it the realy will complete the ground for the fan to run. You may need to have a qualified technician diagnose the problem if the obvious things like fuses and good grounds are not the problem.

Hope this helps.

2001 Chevy Malibu is getting hot before the fans come on.Had blown head gasket.Replaced that and the fan motor.Of course when the a/c is on the fans come on.Turn it off, they stay on but otherwise the car...

on my 2000 malibu 3.1, the fans come on at about 220 and go off at 210. tempurature should read about a line past the half mark. if hotter then this, check coolant level to be sure its ok. and there are no leaks in system. good-day! you might want to check the coolant temperature sensor. Also, there is a relay for the fan in the fuse box. engine is not considered over heating unless it gets to the red line portion of guage about 250 degrees. the fans work for a/c so it must be the coolant sensor thats not turning fans on when it gets hot.

Thermostat temp guage goes to 220 degrees

220 degrees is normal operaing temperature for your car. The thermostat does not open until 195 degrees and the fans don't come on until 126 to 128 degrees. If it gets over 129 degrees and the fans have not turned on then the cooling fan system is the cause of the problem. (cooling fan, cooling fan temp switch, cooling fan relay, etc.)

Try changing the coolant temp senor...Its usually by the thermostat by the housing....Start up your car and let it run for a bit.....then unplug the electric plug from the sensor....If you unplug it and the fan comes on....that sensor is your problem. Or it could be your coolant fan relay.

The thermostat may be wearing out. A thermostat controls the engine temperature to keep it at a consistent temperature, The other fan will probably turn on if you turn on your Air Conditioner.

1995 Pontiac Grand Am SE runs hotter than normal

Everything you said is normal. It is common for these to hear coolant in the heater core, especially with a new one. There is a cure for it but it will make the heater not work as well. 200 coolant temp is normal. It is running at 170 with the air on because the fan is running. You can get a thermostat that opens at a cooler temp but the vehicle will run better and get better mileage at 195. Without the air on the fans will come on at 235. I don't see anything wrong.
