Question about 1998 GMC Jimmy
How do you repair a heater core
You replace them, generally requires getting up underneath the dashboard and sometimes removing the dashboard. You can try one of those radiator leak repair goops which are supposed to fix leaks, but I have yet to see one actually work. You dump these into a warm radiator, they glop around the leak and seal it, according to the packaging. Any car parts store will have a host of these sitting on the shelf.
If the core is leaking you can just disconnect the heater hoses which connect to it and put a piece of tubing between them to maintain flow. About half the Jeeps I have ever seen have this method of repair, but it tends to be a bit cold in the winter.
