The passenger side head head light goes out and the replacement lamp on the dash lights up. After a while the headlight comes back on. I've tried replacing the head light and still experience the same problem. The model is a volvo S60 2004.

If you have an optional HID lighting kit, check/replace the ballast for the lights. If not, check for a wiring short in the harness somewhere.

You have lost the ground, evidently on the left side. The lamps act that way because one of the lamps is grounding through the elements of the other lamp.

Click on the link.
Usually on older vehicles, the headlamps don't use a fuse, but, fusible link, as shown in the diagram. Usually the park lamps and instrument cluster illumination are fuse protected, like the diagram shows, Not only check the fuses, use a test lite to check for voltage at fuse and at fusible link. The wires on top of switch in the diagram are voltage to headlamp switch, the wires on the bottom is voltage from head lamp switch to component.
Usually one of the wires from Battery positive goes to fusible links, at the moment, I don't have location.
Hope this helps, a little. I just want to add voltage and ground both are important.

Jeep grand cherokee head lamps

Two items to check. headlight relays and body control module. Also make sure firewall and dash grounding is good. Might also be a multi-function switch internal problem (part of directional switch) You need to test or without fail, you'll change everything and the last part changed will be the one with the problem.
Get a decent manual and a test light or better, volt meter.

I have a 2008 Ford Fusion and the passenger side head lamp will not come on. The fog lights and driver side head lamp works but the passenger side will not work on bright or on dim, what could this be?

Hi. Since the headlight on the driver side is working then we dont have any problem with the fuse or relay. Check the wiring and the socket of the passenger headlight if it is intact to the bulb. If it is intact, then this could be a headlight problem. Time to replace the passenger headlight.

Passenger side headlamp wont light up

I'm assuming globe means bulb. I have replaced many bulbs that look fine, and that turns out to be the problem. But to stop you from chasing down a problem that isn't there, test the connector that attaches to the bulb. Should be power there with the head lights on. There should be a fuse, and a relay. The fuse is under the dash or on the side of the dash near the door hinges, I'm just not sure if this car would have seperate fuses for L headlight and R headlight. But you should check power first at the connector.
