98 ford ranger fuel pump shut-off switch - 2006 Ford Ranger

Three wires - the dark green with yellow stripe comes from the fuel pump relay ! When energized the relay sends battery voltage to the inertia switch via the dark green with yellow stripe wire . Inertia switch's don't go bad ! What's the problem ? fuel pump not working ? Test from the relay > Do you know what a relay is and how it works ? Watch this guy's video ! He shows chrysler first then ford . Do you know how to do electrical testing ! It doesn't matter that your inertia swich has three wires . Only two matter ! maybe try fuel pump relay is faulty

Check to be sure you are getting fuel to the fuel rail. The fuel filter could be stopped up. Also I would check the nertia switch to be sure it has gotten turned off. This switch is the fuel shut off switch.

In your power distribution box in your engine compartment (Ford recommends

disconnecting your battery before servicing fuses / relays in PD BOX )

fuse # 9 - 20 amp mini-fuse for fuel pump relay and RAP module

relay # 5 - is the fuel pump relay in your PD BOX

also , the fuel pump inertia (shut off) switch is in the right front passengers

footwell by the right front kick panel.

Your vehicle has an inertia switch, which is located on the tow board to the right of the transmission pump. Usually the fuel pump does not shut off except in the case of an accident but you can check it anyway. Being fuel injected, your fuel pump is probably in the gas tank and if there is no power to the wires coming out of the tank, you probably have a bad fuel pump

fuel pump shut off switch and reset is located on the right hand side floor board underneath the floor carpet, just pull carpet back.

Fuel Pump relay switch is in the main box usually located on the drivers side Fender in a black box. According to the owner's manual in the power distribution box in the engine
compartment (Ford recommends disconnecting your battery)
Relay # 5 is the fuel pump relay , and also in the PD BOX is a 20 amp mini-fuse
for the fuel pump relay + RAP module in location # 9


( P.S. - don't forget your fuel pump inertia switch , in the right front passenger area ,
by the right front kick panel )Sometimes this gets kicked by passenger or if the car is bummed hard it could set this item to shut down fuel system. Best of Luck

THERE IS A FUEL PUMP SHUT OFF SWITCH(INERTIA) ON THE PASSENGER SIDE KICK PANEL.INSIDE CAB UNDER DASH.IT INTERUPTS POWER TO THE PUMP IF U ARE IN A COLLISION.PUSH THE RED BUTTON ON TOP OF IT.IF THAT DOES NOT WORK CHECK FOR POWER IN AND POWER OUT.NO POWER OUT BAD SWITCH.NO POWER IN OTHER PROBLEM

check for fuel, fuel pump could be getting hot then shutting off,
could be fuel pump relay, could be coil, computer,etc just a couple places for you to start

its under the carpet on the passanger side at the firewall
