Dodge Caravan 98 3.0L 2WD We were driving down the highway and totally loss power. The car cranks but, will not start. Could it have jumped time? Is there a way to tell besides a volt meter? Also, we completed the instrument check and it coded 999 which is nothing wrong however, we tried the diagnostic test and it did not work. Any ideas?

It sounds a lot like a bad fuel pump. If you don't have a way to check fuel pressure, you can at least check to see if the engine is getting spark. Pull a spark plug lead off and attach an old spark plug to it . While the plug is grounded have someone crank the engine over while you watch it. If you see a spark flashing, it is highly likely you have a fuel delivery problem and pumps are not uncommon. How many miles on the van?

Dodge Grand Caravan 2005 P0016 code

Im assuming it is an engine that uses a timing belt. It sounds like the belt has jumped 1 tooth. if it only jumped 1 tooth than the computer will compesate the timing so it is possible the sensors will say they are ok. If it is a motor that uses a chain than it problaly needs a new gear/chain set.
