Question about 2004 GMC Envoy

2 Answers

I have an extreme problem in filling my envoy with gas. The gas nozzle keeps shutting off unless I fill it extremely slow. The dealer replaced a tank fill hose but it did no good.

You have a vent hose that is restricted by something, most likely crimped,it is in the fill hose,or it runs beside the fill hose.

When pumping gas it kicks off and flapper is bent

There is an automatic valve in the filler neck of your fuel tank that is designed to keep gas from jumping back up the filler neck and out the fill fitting. If that valve is bad, you'll have a heck of a time filling the tank, as the nozzle is constantly kicking off and your fill rate is VERY slow. Probably best to take it to a dealer or your trusted mechanic. They might want to replace the flapper at the same time.

My isuzu Ascender is giving me problems every time I try to fill the gas tank It shuts down every second so it gives you a hard time to put gas in

there is a problem with the air trying to get out as the fuel is being pumped in . This activates the shut of in the nozzle of the hose . Try holding the trigger just open so that you control the amount of fuel flowing in . Try rotating the nozzle in the filler a few degrees so that the fuel coming back will no activate the shut of system. I have found some pump systems are extremely sensitive to the air/ fuel flow back so I am selective in which pumps I pull up at for this reason. Remember you do no have to pull the trigger full bore when filling as you can control the setting with your fingers.

2004 mercury sable gas go's into tank real slow

This is caused by an obstructed filler air pipe vent, this keeps the air from coming out of the tank as you fill, this causes the filler nozzle at the station to shut off as the gas backs up in the filler pipe, the air vent pipe is either kinked or blocked in some way. The vent tube runs down along side the gas fill tube and is all one part, replace it.

Fill gas tank very slow

Need to inspect/clean/replace the fuel tank breather. Try this first, as this being faulty will create to much back pressure in the tank, causing the fuel nozzle to shut off quickly. Also, when filling, try holding the fuel nozzle upside down, no known reason why it works, but it sometimes does!

What do you know about the gas nozzles not letting you put the gas into the 1998 mercury grand marquis? It keeps spitting it out and will only let you put it in by hand and a small drizzle which takes...

inside the filler tube that connects fuel tank there is an air vent tube that lets air out as u fill the tank, the tube is made from a very light weight plastic and they can collapse, the result is slow fill or gush back when filling. You will need to replace the vent tube assembly, contact a ford dealer for the right parts, that is the only place other than a salvage yard to get the part.

Can't get gas into my 2002 Hyundai Accent.

The reason the gas station pump shuts off is when the fuel reaches the tip of the gas nozzle, so when you are filling your car and the gas nozzle (gas stations pipe) keeps shutting off it means that the pipe that runs to the gas tank is not open completely, what happens is when you pump the gas in the car the supply pipe from the gas tank opening to the tank fills up quickly and this causes the gas station pipe nozzle to shut off, have some body take down the gas tank and have a look at the gas tank opening and also gas supply pipe that runs from the gas filler opening ( on the car body) to the gas tank. Have a look at it and please don't forget to rate the answer if it was helpful, thanks!

I HAVE A 2004 GMC Serria that when I try to put gas in the gas nozzle keeps shutting off ?

Welcome to the GM world. Try filling the tank first by not putting the nozzle in to far and start slow first then you can gradually squeeze the trigger more. It's like an art and when you can find the right spot the nozzle needs to be to fill, your good to go. I have a Jimmy and Montana, they both get filled differently except that i need to start slow first then i can squeeze the trigger all that way after 5 seconds. Good luck and enjoy your new truck.

Gas gage not working, gas tank seems full but it is not

You will need to remove the fuel tank from the truck and replace the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module that is inside the fuel tank. Use extreme caution when doing this as there is a real fire hazard.
