Question about Pontiac G6

1 Answer

I have a 2006 pontiac g6 gt. All of my windows will not go down. When I hit the main window switch on the driver's side, it makes a buzzer sound. What is the cause of this? What part do I need to replace? I thought it was the motor, but some people say it is not and some people say it is the problem. I'm so confused and need some assistance. Thanks for your time!

Thanks for the reply back. Each window has seperate buttons. When I try to push the buttons on the individual windows, there is no response. Unlike the main switch, there is no buzzer sound from these windows as well when I hit each individual switch. The only time I get the buzzer sound is when I hit the main switch on the drivers side and only when I hit the main button for the drivers side. Hope this is what you were looking for to further help me find a solution. Once again thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you again. Have a good day!

It sounds like a relay switch. When you try all windows there is a much higher power draw. When you try individual windows, there is not as much power draw which is probably why it doesn't buzz.Is the buzzing coming from inside, underneath where the switch is?Also, what switches are on the passenger side?Just the one for that window?Do you have any electrical measuring equipment?

I have to punch the driver side door panel repeatedly just to get my window to work in my 2006 pontiac torrent, how can i fix this?

Hi Donelle!
  • There is probably a loose / intermittent connection in the Switch, the Motor or both
  • The Switch and / or the Motor is going bad (defective)
  • Or have it checked at an ELECTRIC Shop.
Best of Luck,

I push down on the driver side window switch and it makes a buzzing sound.

It could be one of several things but could quite possibly be the start of your electric window breaking down or perhaps it just needs to be pulled apart and cleaned.

Hello I need help locating the fuse/relay for my power windows on my 2006 Pontiac G6. My windows are stuck in the down position.

The 2007 Pontiac G6 engine compartment fuse block is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment, near the battery. The wiring circuits in Pontiac G6 are protected from short circuits by a combination of fuses, circuit breakers and fusible links. This greatly reduces the chance of damage caused by electrical problems. Below diagram and table shows 2007 Pontiac G6 Engine Compartment Fuse Panel, Relay and the Circuit Protected.

OMG. I replaced the battery in my 06 G6 and had the same problem. the windows would not roll up or down how they did before. I read the answers on here and it does work. Hold up the window switch for ten seconds and it resets. You will have to do it to each window. Worked great. Thanks

each window motor has its own circuit breaker. Check it on the motor itself.
