Question about 2002 Honda Odyssey

1 Answer

A key, without a chip, was cut to open the door of my 2002 Honda Odyssey. Unfortunately, someone tried to start the van with the same key. It is now stuck in the ignition and I can not pull it out. The ignition will not turn to 0 it will only turn to I. The van will start if the old key is held to the key in the ignition but the light for the gear shifter will not go off, the P stays lit. Do you know if the key can be removed and if so, how?

Id try putting it the off location and grabbing it with a pair of pliers and giving it a yank nice and straight. worst case is a tooth or two may be worn off. best case it comes right out.

SOURCE: Can not open any door using the key or remote control.

Hmm, probably a dead battery. The problem with those locks is that they are electrically actuated, not mechanically unlocked. Thats why the key turns easily. If you turn and hold it to the unlock position, and the battery is okay, the windows will roll down. If they dont, then its the batt. Call a mechanic.

SOURCE: 2002 honda odyssey sliding door issue

no, you just need to clean and then lubricate the door tracks on top and bottom of door. Also the door will do this if, after a door lever switch is operated the driver's door switch is pressed in either direction. This also happens if you attempt to open the door when the vehicle is not in park or if you shift to drive or reverse while the door is in motion.

I have a 2007 odessey and i seperated the key from the key pad now van will turn over but wont start,i put keypad back on key but still wont start turns over but wont start any suggestions?

If you damaged a chip in the key, it won't start. You will have to get a replacement. You'll need the VIN# and go to the dealer to have one cut. Wouldn't hurt to take your key with you.

I'm locked out from my Odyssey van

you can call a honda dealer and give them the VIN of your van and they can cut a key for you you may have to go to the dealership and show the VIN on a piece of paper proving you are the owner of the van

2002 Honda Odyssey security alarm system

Make sure your hood is shut. I just got my 2002 Honda Odyssey back from the dealer today (90,000 mile check-up - I love my van and will drive it until it dies!) and when I went to lock the van with my remote transmitter, the lights didn't flash and the horn didn't sound. I open and closed all the doors and tailgate and I could hear that the doors were locked, but the security system wasn't working and that is why the lights didn't blink or the horn didn't sound. I walked up to the front of the van to check the hood to make sure it was closed (there isn't an indicator light for an open hood, only open doors) and the hood wasn't shut completely. Once I opened the hood and let it drop to securely shut, I hit the door lock button on the remote and everything worked like a charm! Hope this helps others in this predicament.
