Question about 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Locate oil drain plug on oil pan,engine off. take out oil plug with wrench, drain oil into a big pan or similar. when oil is drained remove oil filter and put new one on, put some new oil on filter seal with finger then screw on to car as tight as you can get it by hand. do not use a fiter wrench to tighten filter only hand tight. use oil filter wrench to take off old oil filter. when filter is on put plug back in oil pan and tighten. then add your new oil to reccomended oil level.

12 is a battery disconnect within the last 50 start cycles and 55 means the end of the diagnostic cycle. Basically the computer found nothing wrong. The 12 code may seem incorrect if you haven't disconnected the battery recently, but from my experience the 12 code shows up almost all the time regardless.

I thinking tha you are fix the CHMSL (Central High Mounted Stop Light); review the Service Manual, the section ZJ-Secc-8L-Lamps (page 7, fig. 11).
