Question about 2003 Chevrolet S-10
How about the starter? My 1997 Cadillac Deville has this annoying problem where I can only get it started sometimes by toggling the starter switch on and off rapidly for 3 to 5 times before it turns over. lol.
Other times, it starts fine.
The only solution, assuming your security system isn't playing games with you, is to replace the starter with a new one.
Good luck on this repair.

It's more than likely the starter solenoid... it is located mounted on top of the starter motor...just replacing that instead of the whole starter will save you a quite a bit of money...seems to be the common cause for a starter to fail and most people spend the extra $30-$40 for a whole new starter. but if you're bringing it to a mechanic they will probably charge more in labor to make up the difference of replacing the whole thing...
