Remove fan nut w/special tool. left h. thread. remove fan and shroud @ the same time. remove air box, upper and lower hoses, disconnect heat sensor, and small hose to overflow can. it's tight but it will wiggle out of there

You gotta remove the fan and shround. Fan nut is 1.250" wrench. Fan nut is left handed thread. this means rightey loosey, lefty tightey. Go get the special tool to hold the fan pulley bolt heads. While you are turning the fan nut clockwise to loosen the special tool holds two of the fan pulley bolt heads to keep the fan pulley still. And voila, off comes the fan. then you can remove the shroud with it. Then you can remove the radiator. Fun job. I've got it down to 8 minutes.

Yes, unless you can unbolt the fan assembly and remove it separately.

Bmw 728i over heating problem

The thermostat and water pump are both common failure points on BMW 6-cyl engines of this era. I would recommend checking the thermostat first, then moving on to the water pump. If the vehicle has overheated several times, you may need to remove the cylinder head and have it checked for warp.

Need to replace leaking radiator on 1999 bmw 528i

You need the special tool that will hold the water pump pulley and a 32mm open ended wrench. Ebay has the set for around $20.
The thread is the opposite than normal too!
Easy to take it all off with the right tools. 15 minutes max.

Have you had your radiator flushed lately. It might need to be flushed out or add coolant. The other thing might be that the thermostat needs to be sticking and needs to be replaced.........Thank You for using Fixya.com.....: )

Changing a radiator on a 1999 bmw 528i

not too difficult just make sure you bleed the system properly. two bleeder screws. one near the thermostat housing and one at the expansion tank(where you would fill the coolant) i would recommend replacing both bleeder screw and don't lose the four rubber pieces that are used to mount the radiator properly(can reuse the old ones)

When do i replace the radiator in my 1999 BMW 328i? Thank you

there is no set mileage at which a radiator is replaced, the coolant should be replaced every 100,000 miles though.
