My check engine light is on with no visible

I love my Honda runs great done some traveling and just adore it other than having to run the a/c and the defroster to clear my window but my check engine light is on with no visible problems. I checked the computer code (420) with one of those devices and it says it's a catalyst problem, that it is not operating properly and I want to know if there are sensors that can be changed or if I have to change the whole catalytic converter?

The lambda probe(oxygen sensor)is located between the exhaust manifold and the first box(cat)
sometimes the probe is fitted to the cat itself(depends on market)
its the only part of the system that has wires coming off it,replace this first.....as its a cheaper alternative to replacing the cat itself.....if the cat is not faulty.....

That code is definitely a cat code, but you can replace the cat with an after market part almost as cheaply as you can replace the sensor.
Go here to get an idea of what an after market cat will cost you.

There is a good chance that you have a blown head gasket. When cool refill radiator with water and leave the cap of. Start the engine and check for air coming from radiator. If the radiator keeps blowing air bubbles you have a blown head gasket.

93 accord engine bogs like its running out of gas until the check engine light comes on then it runs great

Sounds like a common o2 sensor problem. When the check engine light comes on, it has gone into default mode and bypasses that bad sensor.

My 1996 honda civic runs beautifully apart from it blows out cold air, it does not over heat and the oil is lovely and clear, could you help me with this problem please?

First thing you have to do is check the coolant level. If it's full, then possibly the heat control is not working, or the heater core could be air locked. ( have you done any work to it lately?) If it's air locked, turn the control to high, and loosen one end of a heater hose with the engine running and see if you can get any air out of it. Be careful, don't scald yourself! Let me know what you find out.

try not to use high test gas. see what happens. sometime it can cause a ping in the engine and the knock sensor will pick it up and throw a code. let us know. try this first
