Turn signal blinker problem. They work properky

2000 Olds Intrigue... turn signal blinker problem. They work properly sometimes, and then other times they don't blink at all. I Changed all the bulbs, but it didn't seem to make any difference. I can manually blink the front end and the lights go on and off... the rear lights do not come on at all, not SAFE. It is driving me nuts!

Yes, the brake and backup lights work fine. Not sure what the "plate in the steering wheel" is?
I am assuming you believe there is a short in the wiring there. Appreciate further clarification...Thanks

Sounds like wiring.or there may be a plate in the steering wheel.the plate in the steering wheel seems more plausible because wiring on both sides is less wouldn't hurt to check the wiring as far as you can to the rears though.any brake lights work?

Does the "clicker" sound when you use the blinkers? That could be it.The switch that actually makes them blink, which i called the clicker, seems very likely too.I have never seen it act up as bad as you described though.Sorry I didn't think of it earlier. You can ask almost any national parts store and they should tell you where it is because they would rather see you buy a part from them than go to the mechanic.But...if you can find one used from a salvage yard, that may save a couple bucks.I kind of jumped the gun on the plate in the steering wheel. There is a plastic plate with all sorts of contacts on it going out to all your blinkers and hazards from the turn signal stick and hazard activator switch. It is a pain in the **** to do.Good luck!Let me know how you make out.I am real sorry I didn't suggest it first.

My turn signals on my 2000 olds alero work when they want to and sometimes blink really fast. What should I do?

check your bulbs, make sure they are all working (tail lights, front blinkers), if so then check replay. can replace bulbs and relay with a trip to local auto parts store.

Blinkers only work sometimes

chevy had an issue with the blinkers and hazards not working all the time i found that when my turn signals stop working push the hazard switch until they blink then the turn signals start working again. its a faulty turn signal/hazard switch that needs to be replace costs about 30 bucks pretty simple to replace.

1999 Olds Intrigue Front blinkers don't work, bulbs are good and so are the fuses. Back blinkers do work, but blink fast. Hazards work too.

The most common cause will most likely be the turn signal/multifunction switch. Hard to confim it without testing the outputs from the switch. I have replace more than 100 on this body style of car

Older cars sometimes have many difficult problems, especially the wires problem, it is very hard to find out which wire got trouble, I think your Olds wire got hot sometimes before and some wires connected together and by pass.

Olds is GMC products, the plastic sucks easy to melt, sometimes also cause the engine over heat, because the cooling fan doesn’t work right.

Good luck, my friend.
