The water pump is driven by the timing belt, so if you don't know what you're doing (no offense intended), I would take it somewhere to have the work done. And if you need a new timing belt as well, you should get that done at the same time since since the labor rates for a water pump and timing belt will be very close to the same, you'll be adding mostly parts cost.

the heater core is located in the heater case under the dash you need to remove the dash to remove the heater / a/c case to access the heater core

It's a big job. Drain the coolant down, recover the freon in the ac system and disconnect the lines and heater hoses. Lower the steering column, remove the instrument panel assembly, remove the heater housing. Split the case halves on the housing and there you are. Usually around 500 to 700 dollars at a dealership.

Not a whole lot different. Just need to keep removing plastic down at the heater until you get to the heater core. Then disconnect it on the firewall side.
