Question about 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Just had oil changed on 2001 grand jeep cherokee a month ago. who

Changed the oil, they said there was no oil in it. The oil didnt evaporate or leak out. and none of the warning light were on prior to this happening. What do yoiu think happened? The service station said my engine is shot.

If you had a low oil pressure situation and the sensor didn't alart you, then I think there was a problem with that.

But, I would first ask, did I hear any rubbing or ticking; see any smoke out of the tailpipe? That would be indicative of oil starvation.

If I didn't, then I would be wary of this garage saying that the engine is shot.

Take it for a drive and see if it really is shot. If it can go that far, as they might imply.

The only explanation for the oil loss,if the engine does not have a leak,is that the engine used oil,it burned it along with the fuel,go to a heavy oil,and a quart of lucas oil additive,this will slow the consumption down.

Check for a clogged evaporator drain next to firewall.When using the a/c if this drain is clogged then it will cause condensation to back up into the interior of the car.

Check out the fan, maybe is not working, about 1 year ago same happened to me, changed many parts but keep getting hot and finally found that the fan had a short circuit and sometimes didnt work.

There is a connector between the fan motor and the fuse box eliminate the connector instead directly join wire to wire

Have 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Laredo, 2WD, 4.0 engine. Freon leaking out, can't see visual oil leak, but evap condensate water feels oily. Leak must be evap. How/Where do I find a good step by step...


This job requries special training and tools, have a shop do it and avoid personal injury.

Odds of an evaporator are extremely slim. Get a shop to leak test, Usually seals, nor major components.

I hope they didnt over fill it when they did the seal a few months ago..

Did the mech say what would cause the overflow ??

Maybe call a trani shop & get a 2nd opinion..
Ask them what causes a overflow..
