Question about 2000 Dodge Caravan

Open Question

I have a 2003 Grand Caravan that stalls just as you start to push the gas. The engine will die if you just barely push the gas. It only does this some times, usually after the car has been sitting and is cold. (on a 65 degree day) Starts, idles and runs fine other than that. No check engine light. If the engine does not die, the engine catches and accelerates normally. It only does this from a stop and seems to be more noticable the slower you push the gas. Is this a throttle position sensor or something else? Thanks.

Inlet air temperature sensor, also known as throttle body temperature sensor, will do that. Don't go changing TPS, or IAC, as suggested in other post. If they work good in warm weather, they should do the same in cold. Air inlet sensor tells system how much fuel to deliver according to temperature, as engine needs more fuel the colder it is when starting.

SOURCE: 95 dakota dies when warmed up

yes it can but you may have a coolant temp sensor acting up which causes the computer to open the injectors to much which can also cause this 02 sensor code. when it stalls do u have spark and fuel pressure.

SOURCE: engine runs fine most of time then once in a while

It is best that you make a scanner to see if it gives you some code and do not keep changing parts for pleasure I recommend that if you measure the pressure of the gas pump when you feel the decision would be good for my doubts. Thanks

Wont start. drove the caravan to the store then home and it hasnt started since

It could be just about anything was it driven normal before it died or was it acting up . make sure that the gas is actually getting to the engine if it is i would maybe change the spark plugs. then the computer again . but may start to get costly by guessing you may want to bring it in for test..

When the temperature outside is 20 degees or lower the engine will not start. I have to push down on the gas pedal a liitle to feed it fuel, then it will start. Until the engine warms up it has a tendancy...

Your idle air control valve may be sticking. recommend you remove the valve and also the hose from the throttle body. Clean the valve, idle air passsages, and the throttle body using carb cleaner. Hopefully this will restore proper operation.

1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Stalls out, engine quits running

since its a 1997 your jeep has EFI, electronic fuel injection. The most probable reason for your troubles would be the injectors or a problem with the computer controling them, not allowing enough gas to be pushed into the cylinder causing stalling or lack of power, also too much gas iin the cylinder can lead to back firing and stalling. This would also explain the reason it takes so long to start back up some times, all the excess gas in the cylinder is flooding the motor and u have to wait till the gas disipates till the engine will turn over.

Dodge grand caraven stalls when the ideling while the A/C on.

You need to clean the air bypass valve and the throttle body, they both cause this stalling concern due to sludge buildup, you will need a can of carb spray, remove the air intake hose from the engine, have someone hold the idle up while you spray about half the can into the intake manifold, shut off the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes to clear any codes that have been set, reconnect and drive a day or so, this should cure your issue.
