Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have oil in the radiator of my 2000 Plymouth Neon. It is NOT overheating, the oil and transmission fluids are full and clean. The only indication of any problem was a stange gurgling sound once I turned the car off when I arrived at work. Did the head gasket blow?

Overheating

not sure but you may have a leak in your oil cooler ,,,, this would allow trans oil into the coolant and cause your loss of oil and overheating,,,,

Just trying to locate my transmission cooler lines so I can drain a bit of fluid; previous owner over-filled it

There may not be any spot to drain transmission fluid at the radiator. (All radiators have the transmission cooler built into the lower half of it.) You may have to let fluid out anywhere along the line that you can find to disassemble. Maybe look at the transmission itself to see if there is a drain plug on the transmission pan (like an oil pan)

My 2000 plymouth neon is overheating, it has a leak near the radiator cap

if you keep going , instead of needing a new radiator , you will need another engine
temp gauges do not read with out water to make them work and if the temp keeps going up after refilling the radiator , it could be a head gasket or cracked head result

My 2000 neon stalls when driven for 15 mins or when temp on the dash is warm. Then it stalls and can't be driven.

Change your thermostat out! Your car may be overheating. Make sure that you are keeping the radiator fluid full.

I have a 2000 Plymouth Neon. I have oil in the

sounds like blown head gasket or possible cracked head. Only way to know for sure is either you pull the head, take to a machine shop have it serviced, they will replace any bad valves, resurface and pressure check it. If its cracked they will tell ya. The alternative is to pull the head, clean up really good and put a new gasket and reinstall the head. If it doesn't fix its cracked.

My car is overheating. i got water in my transmission, and transmission fluid in my water. is it my radiator? can my transmission cooling lines be backwards? my car is not smoking and no water is comming...

Sounds like the transmission cooler tank with in the radiator has gone bad, the transmission lines can go on either way, does not matter, replace radiator and have cooling system flush and have a transmission flush also done.

Radiator vs. transmission

same issue. tranny fluid is cooled via intercooler that runs along bottom of radiator. this developed a crack and because tranny fluid is under more pressure, started dumping tranny fluid into radiator. A couple guys recommended replacing rad, then servicing tranny just in case any coolant leaked backwards.
