Question about Ford Focus

I have a Ford Focus 2003. When I push the AC button on the green light turns on and I have cool air blowing out. But this only happens when my fan dial is set at 1. If I set the fan dial to 2, 3 or 4, the green light turns off and I only have reular air blowing out. The fan works well on all four settings but the AC only works when the fan dial is set at 1. Help would be appreciated.

In order to diagnose this correctly your going to need to access the controls from the back. There is no set reson why this is happening. Diagnostics is the only way to find the cause. If your capable you can go to mitchell1diy online and get all the wiring and diagnostic procedures. Your going to need a 12 volt meter and the knowledge to be able to trace wires and know how to check resistance and voltages.

I hear few comment about this, "..the problem is caused (99% of the time) by a blocked pollen filter. The air that passes through this filter, is what is used to cool the blower motor resistor. If this filter is even SLIGHTLY blocked, it will result in a burnt out or blow resistor pack. The end result will be only allowing you to use the highest blower setting. Changing or fixing the resistor pack WITHOUT changing the pollen filter, will give you a circle of problems".

We could concluded in that means the heater blower motor resistor is most likely bad; keep in mind that the heater blower motor resistor is an electronic device with three or more progressive resistors that allow the heater blower motor to operate at slower speeds.
Then, the highest speed of the heater blower motor is not controlled by the resistor, so when the resistor fails, the fan will often work on the highest speed setting, but not the lower speeds.

Here can fin one interesting article about:

It's a typical setup for the a/c not to turn on unless the fan is on. The fact that your a/c works on 1 indicates that the fan dial is not making the connection on 2,3 and 4. You may can clean the contacts on the fan speed switch or you may have to replace it.

2003 ford focus no cool air is blowing out. Could it be the evaporation cord?

Make sure your blower fan is turned on and is blowing air. When you push your a/c button the yellow light should come on. If it is not blowing cool, it could be several things. Low on 134a or the control that has the a/c button on it could be bad or blown fuse, bad compressor, etc. If the air is cool but not cold the 134A is low. If it is still blowing hot, check and make sure that the clutch on the compressor is locked in. It most likely is not. Check ac fuses and ac relay, if they are good, check the 134a ,if low, refill it. This should fix it. Remember that if the a/c clutch is not locking in, you cannot add 134a because of no circulation. On some vehicles, if it is completely out of 134a, the relay will not trip and you will have to bypass the relay to provide power to the compressor to fill it. If you do all of these and it still does not work, you will need to take it to a professional. If you need to, reply back and I will give you more possibilities.(I think that you mean evaporator coil)

I have a 2001 ford focus 2.0l DOHC engine with A/C which fan is the engine cooling fan and which is the A/C cooling fan?

I have the same type of ford focus. The engine cooling fan is located next to the radiator. There are two engine cooling fans and they are controlled by an engine temperature switch located on the engine under your alternator by the firewall. The a/c cooling fan is located on the firewall under the hood. It blows air through your a/c core (this core is called an evaporator, it looks like a minature radiator.) and as the freon goes through the evaporator, the air from the a/c blower pushes cold air in to your car through your vents.

My ac only blows air on high and its hot air

either your out of freon/refrigerant,or your ac fan motor is out,go on the freeway and while driving, put to coldest and turn it on,if it works,it is your fan motor,if it doesnt, check your condensor and see if u still have the belt/to be safe, stop by any ac shop, they usually check it for free, good luck

2003 ford focus not putting out much cold air from ac

Make sure the fans are running when AC is on. The fans should run all the time and regulate from high to low speed. If it does not run on low speed the connector for the low speed resistor has burned out. It is located between the two cooling fans and has two wires. Mine was burned and I clipped the wires and replaced the connector with two heavy duty female spade connectors. Cost 4.99 . Ac works fine now. If all the fans are operating correctly and ac is cycling on and off it may be low on freon .

Ford 2002 focus blower motor only works on switch

You may have 2 separate problems, check the bower motor resistor first, if it's bad replace it and THEN you should have the fan blowing on the lower settings.

If the ac turns on after you fix this then problem solved, if not it may be unrelated have a pro look at the ac.

Aiconditioning blows hot air Ford Focus 2004

Your valve that shuts off the hot water to your heater core is not closing.Your AC is running but it is trying to cool down 200Deg. air.May be a issue with the heater/AC contol in the dash or the mixing valve stuck open.

My 2003 ford focus is over heating quickly especially when i am sitting at a light, then when i turn the air conditioner on it overheats more

1. Does the cooling fan turn on when it over heats?
2. Check your coolant level, if it is a little low it will cool normally under transit and over heat in the conditions you are describing. Also have your coolant check for proper dilution.
3. If your cooling fan is failing to turn on you may have a coolant temperature switch issue.
