Ti was running turn of engine was hot now no spark to engine .
it cranks but no spark.

Try checking the ignition control module. Check the ignition coils. Make sure you car's anti theft system is disabled, this usually disables the ignition system when busted...

I HAVE A 2000 CHEVY S10 4.3 ENGINE coil sparks but no spark from distributor. can the cam sensor cause this problem?


If you take coil wire loose from distributor cap and hold close to engine ground, engine cranking, does a spark jump? If it does, make sure rotor turns when you crank it. The pink wire at the coil goes hot with key on, that is primary voltage, use a test light, is it hot? That voltage comes from ecm fuse1--15 amp, check voltage with key on.
If sensor issue, my first thought would be the crank sensor. Just my opinion.

Not getting fuel


which engine?
my guess, is it really dont start.
so the assumption is not getting fuel.???
got spark? (3 or 4 cylinders , 1.0 or 1.3L)?
compression at spec? 150 min, warm. or hot?
if test fuel works or runs for 3seconds , proving engine is ok but no fueling?
that and only that means not getting fuel.

the fuel pump on many cars does not turn on , until you crank the engine.
The ECU decides this, (software inside) and varies.
some run for 3 seconds key on. others, not. depends on country and year, and engine sizes, (only year was stated)

EFI rules to use:
ECU does not inject if spark is bad. BY DESIGN.
nor at wide open throttle ,cranking (bad TPS?)
all ECU operater the pump, when cranking and running.
so check the fuel pressure with a real gauge, cranking.
only that works.

1999 taurus hard starting, once it starts runs fine. it has original coil pack and crank sensor


Does this engine have a cold start mechanism? I would check that out since it appears to be the source of the problem.

let vechicle sit for a while could be flooded fuel injectors leaking.when fuel injectors become dirty clogged they will leak when you turn off the engine.see if engine restart if its sits while.if car still dont crank check for spark.no spark could be faulty ignition module or crankshaft position sensor and camshaft sensor.have vechicle code scan first before buying new parts.meant to say bad engine coolant temperature sensor will cause no start hot engine and clogged air filter.

Will crank and run fine when engine is cold go for drive come back wont start, new battery1 will turn over just like no fire is getting through1


could be a number of possible faults.1/crank sensor not working when hot,trace this and pour cold water on it(dont do this if it is not by crank pulley as water isnt good for modules etc) and retry.2/sparkplugs worn,but usually they would fault more on cold start.3/fuel pump cuts out when run,try wacking tank from underneath and retry.though I would concentrate on nil spark caused by a faulty ignition module or crank sensor.
Next time it fails to start.pull off a sparkplug lead,make a quick test plug with an old(but working)sparkplug.pull the side wire away from the center electrode 5mm and insert into plug lead.earth ground the plug on its thread against metal on the engine.crank and check for spark visually,don't be tempted to hold the plug while cranking.if nil spark we will have to test further which is faulty sensor.if it sparks ok we will need to test for fuel.
testing for fuel is easy.
when it fails,unclip air filter housing,while engine is being cranked,spray an aerosol based carburettor cleaner into air duct to engine,it should start and run while spraying and stop when you stop spraying if fuel delivery is the fault.fuel pump will then need testing/replacing.
be careful not to spray onto ignition or any areas of spark

I have replaced the water pump on a '95 chrysler lebaron, 3.0 engine. We also replaced the timing belt. Now with everything put together we cannot get the engine to turn over. Could this maybe be...


Double checking the timing belt is not a bad idea. Especially if the engine ran prior to its replacement. Some sines of the belt being off would be backfiring through the intake. This is cause when spark is introduced when the intake valves are still open. Another symptom would be an erratic engine crank. It should turn over real smooth like it did before. If it cranks and slows down and then cranks again its a timing issue. If it seems like it is cranking over faster than it normally does it can also be a timing issue.

You can also check for spark at the coil. There will still be spark even if the timing is off. If there is no spark than double check all the connectors. This is a fairly involved job and something could have been easily overlooked.

If there is no spark try spraying a little carb spray into the intake. If ti starts and stalls you have a fuel issue.

If you disconnected the battery you can also try giving it a little gas while cranking the engine over. Sometimes it will take a while for chryslers to relearn everything after the battery is reconnected.

Bmw 318 i cranks but wont turn over


Ok , when u turn the key the engine cranks (turn over is the same as cranks), but it won't start. U have to determine if there is spark at the spark plugs, if there is then u have to determine if gas is reaching the spark plugs. This must be fixed 1st before the running hot issue, and I don't believe the catalytic converter has anything to do w/ your problems you have described.
So 1st u must get the car running again. As far as overheating, why did the shop think it was the head gasket? So u have several problems, but unfortunately, not enough information to work with yet. Let me know when u determine if the no start issue is due to no spark, or no gas. Good Luck!
