I have a '94 Olds Cutlass S with a 3.1L V6. The ammeter recently began showing lower than normal position (around 10). I had the battery and alternator checked and they are functioning perfectly. There is some kind of glitch in the electrical though. When I use the turn signal the dash lights dim and recover in time with the signal pulse. There is a noise coming from my rear radio speakers sounding exactly like a bass drum pounding quite loud even if the radio is turned way down. The problem seems intermitent.. Clearing up from time to time then re-occuring again. At it's worst the ammeter goes almost to zero and I lose power on acceleration dramatically.

If the belt is tight and the battery and alternator is checking out fine even when warm I would concentrate on looking at all the grounds. Mainly at the battery, frame and alternator. A loose or dirty ground will cause this to happen in just the way you are mentioning. This can be a long are tiresome job but I think that is where you find your problem.

First thing you need to do is check your grounds on the battery and on the engine, then check your starter motor connections are tight, something is draining the battery directly to ground or the car isnt getting power from the battery :ie the grounds are loose. Good luck.

There is a red wire close to the battery in the front. It's not connected to anything. Apply positive voltage and that will run your pump for testing purposes.

Where are the brake fluid resevoirs on the 94 olds cutlass supreme

I take it you have the 3.4 L (204 cu in) LQ1 V6 engine.

I've seen it before. If that's the one ' remember seeing it on the peripheral of the engine compartment at the rear, I think. Dirty compartments don't always show a reservoir, but look for the telltale rubber lid or a metal one with a thick wire clamp.

94 Olds Cutlass Ciera S is leaking coolant, where or what would be the most common source of the leak and what can be done to fix it?

The most common leak would be the water pump. Before you replace anything have the cooling system pressure tested by a shop to determine for sure the pump is the problem, replacing it and still having the leak would be an expensive mistake. Have the pressure test run, any shop can do or any radiator repair shop can do it, fairly cheap thing to have done.

You have to find the linkage and pull it. If yu cannot find the linkage, one trick is to go to a self serve wrecking yard and play with one of the 90s olds by removing the door panel and looking at it to see how it works.

Are the battery cables corroded or otherwise no making a good connection? Clean them with a cable end cleaning tool avail at any auto parts store for around $5.00 and try it again, I bet the that is the issue, also charge the battery and have it tested at Kragen, they do it for free.
