Question about 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

1 Answer

Default 2003 chevy surburban I have an issue with my 4wd selector switch. Each time you start the vehicle it doesn't remember the last setting. It can be in 2 hi, 2 low, auto, 4 high, or 4 low. Seems to be totally random. On other occasions the truck will be in 2 High but the indicator lamp (RED LED) on the N is lit. You have to put the truck in neutral and be at a complete stop then change the selector button to the desired mode. Sometimes it takes about 15-20 seconds to make the change. More of a hassle than anything. The other thing when switching from 4WD to 2WD there is a loudish clank from the transfer case area. it switching i guess. Has anyone come across this issue? Any ideas on where to begin?

I have the same problem. I have had it in the shop on numerous occasions and they couldn't find the problem. Yesterday it stopped working altogether. I'm stuck in 2WD and there is a snow storm arriving tonight.

03 yukon not staying engaged in selected range push button

possible 4wd selector switch problem. 1st try unhooking battery for 10 min, then rehook and start engine, attempt shifting into 4wd and see if it clears up. could be multiple different things causing this, as the 4wd system is computer controlled, and electronically engaged.

I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 4WD. It will occasionally switch into auto or other 4 wheel drive setting. This normally occurs when I first start the truck. Sometimes it will not switch out of what ever...

transfer case, both are electronically shifted by the TCCM (Transfer Case Control Module) you may have a selector switch (dash) or mode sensor issue, that needs replacing on the encoder motor in the transfer case.

scrap yard my friend cheaper then dealer ;)

Need a lay oougt of fuse box for 2003 excursion

4wd shift motor, It is mounted to the transfer case. If it has not been used for a while the windings in the motor usually get stuck. Take a hammer and tap on the shift motor and then try to put you vehicle in 4wd. The shift motor kind of looks like a window motor just a little bigger. Sometimes you have to have someone move the selector as you tap on the motor, BUT BE VERY CAREFUL< DON"T GET YOURSELF RAN OVER> Let me know if this fixes your 4wd. Once you get it going it is always good to put your vehicle in 4wd a few times a year just to keep this 4wd motor going. Good Luck, Roger

2002 Ford F-250 crew cab will not switch into 4WD

The switches are problematic on any vehicle that has automatic locking hubs. Your issue seems to be that the switch has gone bad behind the selector knob for the 4 wheel drive. I would pull the selector knob off and check for proper wire connection and make sure that there is no deposit on the terminals.

2004 Chevy Avalance CHECK 4WD light

I had that problem to last winter too. i took it to a shop and they told me it was the 4x4 switch. it is a common problem. I changed it and so far so good. It was an very easy fix. you just pop off the dash all the way around then you can take the switch out. there are two clips one on the top and one on the bottom. then all you half to do is un plug the wires and you are ready to put in the new one. it only cost me around $130.00 canadian.

Parking break light is on & Chimming When P. Break is released

On your parking brake assembly is a single wire switch. You can unplug it, but you will have to remember not to drive with it set. To replace the switch the whole assembly will have to come out. The switch is about $20 and labor should run about two hours. Good Luck

Surburban has gone into four wheel drive and will not come out

you might want to check the gear selector switch that is located on the driver side of the tranny, if the 4x4 is electric and not manual for engagement, selector must read neutral to disengage 4 wheel drive. by experience if you drove it through deep water gear selector switch can get damaged.
