Slipping transmission points to worn out clutch plates, or a torque converter that is not locking up.

Either way, a transmission rebuild is indicated which can be a lot of $.

2004 Nissan Altima. Transmission slips between 2nd and 3rd. It is most noticeable when slowing from mid range RPMs and then accelerating again. The Tranny Guy wants to replace the valve body. He says there...

You can clean the valve body, but I would
guess since your driving a slipping trans, you ruined it

It will most likely need to be rebuilt

You do not drive any farther than home or a trans
shop, once you notice any trans issue, you stop using it

No need to replace the valve body
That is silly
You remove & clean it

I was told by a tranny mechanic that it was a problem with the transfer case, some kind of chain is sliping, I think this sounds weird, but our explorer is only slipping between 2nd and 3rd, anyone out there thinks we are getting duped, as we are thinking?

Auto transmission slips then grabs

first thing i would try is changing the transmission fluid out and filter, i beleive its almost 8 quarts. use a full quart of lucas transmission additive with the new fluid. if this doesn't help, the transmission will either need replaced or rebuilt
