I don't think I would replace a tps for the small miss at high speed, although it may have seemed plausible at the time.

I only replace the tps when it shows degradation on the scanner.

Does your computer detect the miss on any given cylinder? If so, that's where I would look next.

Have you tune up your car lately with spark plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter?

My 1998 cavalier runs good but when going 55mph. The car starts jerking

Most likely it is the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Since 55 mph is a relatively constant speed for many drivers, the TPS get a work spot at that location and causes signal drop out to the ECM, resulting in a jerking feeling almost like a high speed intermittent engine misfire.

My V5. only runs 40 mph. is the transmission not changing to high gear?

You have a major problem if it is not shifting into even into 2nd gear. Take it now before it develops into more. You have internal components not functioning correctly. I am assuming you have the proper amount of transmission fluid.

When I give vehicle gas or try to maintain a speed such as 55 mph, the vehicle is hesitant almost like its not getting gas or maybe running off less cylinders then the 6 it should

I would start by getting an OBII scan (fault scan) Any good parts store can do it for you (Autozone, Advance, etc...) and most will for FREE. It sounds like a TPS (Throttle Positioning Sensor) but have scan done so you're not just throwing parts at it. (Why I suspect TPS is - TPS is basically a rheostat and it develops wear/hot spots where it's most commonly used - like at cruising speed/position)

2003 ford exp 4.6L jerks between 45-55 mph. just had complete tune up all plugs were changed out, fuel filter etc...

Replace TPS (Throttle Positioning Sensor) It's a rheostat that controls throttle. After time and mileage it develops hot spots/wear in areas that get most use. In your case the 45-55 mph area of rheostat. Your description is spot on to symptom of bad TPS.

TURN OFF RADIO FIRST.REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE FOR A MINUTE OR TWO.RECONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY.CRANK CAR UP LET IDLE TO GET OPERATING TEMPERATURE FIRST DONT ACCELERATE ENGINE.GIVE ENGINE TIME TO RECOGNIZE THE NEW TPS SENSOR.IF CAR STILL MISS REPLACE FUEL FILTER.CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS WITH A BOTTLE OF FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER BY POURING IT IN A FULL TANK OF GAS.DRIVE CAR AROUND SO CLEANER CAN FLUSH OUT THE INJECTORS.

99 dodge ram that jerks between 40 and 50 mph

Bring it back to the transmission shop and have them test drive it with the scanner to see if the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) needs to be replaced. A worn TPS will case the transmission to have shifting problems, the TPE sends voltage signals to the PCM and will control the transmission shift points and firmness. If the TPS has a flat spot and the voltage is down at the point where the transmission needs to shift, there may be a conflict of shift program and needs to be addressed. Good luck and keep me posted.

I have a 90 Pontiac 6000 that starts just fine everytime, but it misses and shutters when I accelerate. once it's up to speed it runs great and at low speeds ie. 30 - 40 mph it runs great. it just misses...

Check your transmission lock-up. It's programmed to come in at at 40mph. You can replace the lock-up to come in at 60mph or better.
Or you may have some ignition wires going bad or distributor cap has crack in it.

Runs rough when cruising at 35-40 mph

try pulling off the air breather hose and look inside at the mass air flow sensor,it looks like a wire with a diode hooked to it incase you didnt know, see if there is any fuzz on it,sometimes the air filter will lose small pieces and the mass air flow sensor catches it.If that doesnt work then you may have a fuel problem, weak pressure, causing the mass air flow sensor to read too much air so it tricks the computer to adjust the issue.
