After new alternator AC is not working

On my 2005 Kia Sedona I had to replace the alternator, and when I got it back the AC Compressor was not working. Before the alternator went out the compressor worked fine. I don't thing my michanic hooked something up correctly (mechanic known for bad work, but no choice where I live). How can I check to see if my AC compressor was reattached or if I need a new one?

SOURCE: Kia Sedona overheating. New radiator/compressor. Now what??

To start with you have to do this:
With the engine cold, start the car and say after 30 to 40 secs. open the radiator cap.
Carefully and slowly, cause if the problem is either in the cylinder block or cylinder head this shows immediately as water would be compressed in the radiator ( even though the motor is still cold ).
If nothing happens and you would not notice any bubbles in the radiator, then we have to talk again.

SOURCE: AC not working on KIA

if you have freon full and got power to the relay the you need to check the radiator fan if working if yes the a/c cut off switch should be mounted on the a/c lines if it is two wires disconnected and jump the tow wires togather by small paper clips for few seconds and start the eng put the a/c on if started working good then you have a bad switch for 3 wires switch is to replace

SOURCE: kia sedona a/c compressor is not engaging.check

If there is 12 volts at the compressor, then the coil on the clutch is bad. Most of the time, compressor with coil/clutch,is cheaper to purchase than just the clutch.I hope this helps you.

Replace all drive belts

The number on the back of the belts will tell you how long the belt is when you get new ones. You'll have to loosen the alternator bolts for one, the power steering pump for another and the AC compressor for the other one.

2005 Sedona fully charged, compressor does not turn on

Normally you would check for voltage at the relay then the low pressure switch, then the compressor clutch.
With the system charged or the low pressure switch bypassed you should have 12 volts at the clutch and ground. You can also check the clutch with an ohms meter to see if the magnet is open.

Where are the ac connections on a 2005 kia sedona?

Should be two ports on the ac lines or the compressor covered with plastic caps.
One port is bigger than the other to help prevent you from connecting to the wrong side of the compressor.

We only getting 10 volts on a 2002 kia sedona we have put in a new alternator and a new ac compressor. wewere wondering if there is a fusable fuse in the kia

If you are getting only 10volts directly out of the back of the alternator while it is running it is a defective alternator

Air conditioner started blowing hot air

Either AC compressor or AC clutch failure or both highly likely as Kia Sedona has notable history of this

Sure, one might trace the wire that connects to the compressor, and while its challenging to reach without removal of both fans, it does follow upward into the engine wiring harness. At that point its much more convenient to push a needle into the wire and connect a meter to it to see if it is energized when AC selector on, cabin fan on and cabin thermostat set to coldest setting.

If no voltage then check fuses and try swapping idential relays in the engine compartment box to be sure. If voltage present, then assume the worst.

More important is why the failure. I'm convinced a design error by Kia relative to the suction or low pressure hose is the root cause of such frequent AC compressor or AC clutch failures. You can buy a new Kia OEM suction hose, position it for to install and observe immediate kinking and or collapse. Kia has likely long been aware of this problem but never conducted a recall. You can solve it permanently, toss your existing suction hose and buy this one:

If you buy a "Tough One" brand replacement compressor and filter/dryer together from Advance Auto Parts it has a lifetime replacement warranty. No other compressor is sold with a lifetime warant for a Kia Sedona, not even from Kia itself.
