The Vortec engines were notorious for those kind of problems. The problem will be under the upper-intake manifold, and the fuel injector assembly will either have a cracked plastic fuel line running out to one or more of the fuel injectors, or the fuel pressure regulator that is located on the end of the fuel injector assembly is faulty or it has detached from the fuel injector assembly. Either way the lower intake manifold will be flooded with fuel anytime that the fuel pump runs.

There were two types made, the first type had fuel lines that connected to the lower intake manifold, and then from the metal fittings the fuel line turns into plastic and runs inside the lower intake manifold and under the upper-intake manifold where it runs over to the fuel injector assembly, and this type can really flood out an engine when it becomes faulty.

The second type had metal fuel lines running over the upper intake manifold and they connected to the top of the fuel injector assembly, however, under the upper-intake manifold there are still plastic lines to the fuel injectors and also the fuel pressure regulator that could be faulty and cause the engine to severely flood.

The upper-intake manifold is not that difficult to remove, and after you remove the upper-intake manifold then (replace the fuel lines to the fuel injector assembly if it is the second type) turn the ignition to the "Run" position and when the fuel pump runs you should see where the fuel is leaking/spraying from, and it will most likely be a large high pressure leak from a ruptured plastic fuel line.

Let me know if you require any further assistance.

P0302 mis fire, lacks power

Pull the spark plug of cylinder 2. Put the coil on the spark plug. Ground the sparkplug and have someone crank the engine. See if you see a spark. If you have no spark switch coils with another cylinder. If still no spark it could be one of the wires going to the ignition coil. If there is a spark do you smell gas at the spark plug hole? Could be no fuel to the cylinder.

I have a Chevy 2500 pick up truck. My son thought he'd replace the spark plugs. He removed the distributor cap, didn't understand it and now the truck won't start. He did not replace any spark...

firing order for 5.7 v8 is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 mostly all of the chevy v8s are the same firing order. the rotor button in distributer turns clockwise, the cylinder numbers are 1-3-5-7 on drivers side, 2-4-6-8 is on passengers side. To get started get your distrutor cap[new one] look on the top you will see a #1that's where you begin you must know if if rotates clockwise or counter clockwise start in that direction then follow the firing order and cylinder line up. good-day!! if cap is not marked, just pull out #1 plug, put a straw or similar in plug hole on top of piston. turn engine over by crank in front of vehicle with a wrench, when the piston comes to the very top just before it starts going down. this is tdc. and rotor button should be pointing to #1 wire on dist, cap. follow from there. good-day !!

My truck only runs hot if I drive over 50MPH, usually if I drive around town and stay under 50 mph on average if doesn't get hot. I've changed thermostat, flushed radiator and changed the clutch fan....

To reliably check the head gasket without costing you a cent, idle the car hot, to opperating temp. then one by one loosen the spark plugs.

It is very important that you dont take out all the spark plugs at once.

Start with cylinder 1

Loosen the sparg plug
Have a mirror nearby (one that will fit over the plug hole closely)
Remove the spark plug
and then quickly place the mirror over the spark plug hole
after 3-4 seconds quickly check on the mirror if there is any sign of moisture.
If so the head gasket is blown on that cylinder

When the head gasket blows moisture escapes into the combustion chamber wich will mist up the mirror glass.

Repeat this processe with the other cylinders

Truck ran all day turned it off still engin is warm no start good crank over plug it in checked top filter for feul and was full but still no start

Check all of your fuses and make sure one is not blown. Since the engine is getting fuel, it could be in the ignition system. You might have a problem with the spark plugs and coils, the wires, distributor, rotor, cap. You need to check and see if you are getting a spark at the plugs. If you do get a spark, it is something else. Also, it could be your timing belt or chain is broke. You need to check that out and make sure it is not broke or slipping. If you can get a code off your truck, that would be your best bet. Then you could pinpoint the problem if the computer picked it up.

Wont start.

If it will turn over check to see if its fuel or fire. To check for fuel, spray quick start for a few seconds into intake. If it starts and stops. its fuel. Change fuel filter and check fuel pump. If it does not start its fire, Could be distributor cap, rotor, coil, spark plug wires or spark plugs. If it does not turn over it could be battery or starter. Check battrey connections, ground strap from motor to body and ground wire from battery to motor and body.

Can,t get truck to fire ,just put fuel pump in . checked fuses, made sure fuel is pumping

the truck has to have the basics . Spark fuel and compression in that order. Remove a plug wire from a plug either remove the plug or install a different one in the end on the wire and crank the engine with the plug laying on engine ground in good view and see if there's spark. Being you did'nt mention what motor is in the truck, desiel. 10 cylinder gas 8 cylinder gas 6 cylinder gas 4 cylinder gas I can only guess at what kind of engine were working on. The gas engines have spark plugs as the desiel has glow plug heating system and direct fuel injection. Silveradoo is a trim level and theres 1/2 ton 3/4 ton 1 ton and 1 1/2 ton versions. They all have fuel pumps and if they have more than on tank or a desiel they can have more than one. The gas engine v8 has troble with the ingtion and the module is the most likly for the cause of no spark but the mileage wasn't stated so I have no idea where to start. if it still is'nt getting fuel with the new fuel pump it's still possible that is'nt running or if it is its wired backwards and is pumping backwards. If the fuel pressure checks OK (above 50 lbs. that part shold work. Below 45 lbs they might run but they won't start. Compression has to be good 100 lbs or more on any engine. most chevy engines are much more in good shape.150 or even as much as 220. low compression and it was running OK the last time it ran sort of says the timing chain skipped as the compression normally does'nt go away quickly. The exception to this is overheating and racecar type blowups. some engines after overheating will have little or no compression and if started with added fuel and revved up they can unstick rings and or valves. and go back to normal. the reason for the overheating needs to be found as this happens again the motor might not come back to life.

most likely the feul pump. test the feul pressure with a gauge. look of ther little metal feul line on the intale manifold. tst pressure. have freind listen at the rear of the truck for the pump prime. key on only. then start the truck, friend should hear pump running. could also need a timming chain but pump is more tlikely

FIRST OF ALL YOU NEED TO RUN ENGINE FEW MINUTES DONT GET IT TOO HOT. TURN OFF ENGINE. THEN PUT ON SAFETY GLASSES. USE COMPRESS AIR BLOW DEBRI AWAY FROM SPARKS PLUGS.TO KEEP FROM GETTING INTO CYLINDERS.DISABLE YOUR SPARK IGNITION.AND DISABLE FUEL PUMP.BY REMOVING FUSE.NUMBER AND TAG SPARK PLUG WIRES.REMOVE ALL PLUG WIRES AND SPARK PLUGS.BESURE YOU NUMBER THEM AND TAG THEM SO THEY GO BACK IN THE ORIGINAL PLACE.THEN GET COMPRESSION GAUGE TESTER SCREW IT IN SPARK PLUG HOLE TO CYLINDER 1 FIRST.TAKE YOUR FOOT PRESS ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO FLOOR.PUT KEY IN IGNITION SWITCH CRANK ENGINE AROUND A FIVE TURNS.THEN CHECK COMPRESSION ON GAUGE.IT SHOULD BE NO LOWER THAN 100 PSI.IF SO SQUIRT SOME OIL IN THAT CYLINDER. IF COMPRESSION INCREASES.THAT CYLINDER HAS BAD RINGS IF OIL SQUIRT DONT INCREASE COMPRESSION. VALVES IS LEAKING. YOU DO ALL CYLINDER THE SAME.SCREW COMPRESSION IN PLUG HOLES.TURN ENGINE OVER 5 ROUNDS. WRITE DOWN ALL READINGS.

Engine is not running

Looks like u better find a ride to work. U need spark and gas for the car to run. When u turn the key, does the engine turn over? If it does, u should check to see if there is spark at the plugs. Remove a spark plug wire, remove the spark plug (if u have an extra plug, just plug it into the removed wire) place on nearby metal surface, turn key, watch for spark at tip of plug. If u see spark, check to see if gas is getting to spark plugs. After several attempts to start, you should see gas (wet) on plugs. Let me know what u find
