Replace the main cable, but if that isn't easy to do right now, trace the cable to the door, and cut it and pull on the end with a vise grip to open.

There should be an auxiliary cable in the back somewhere to override a broken cable, if it's like a Cadillac, but there's no guarantee that there is one.

So, you have to replace the cable from the driver's side to the rear to get this working, I believe.

The trunk release lever will not open the trunk. the trunk will open when the key is used but not by the release lever.

So, when somebody else pull the cable, do you see the latch move back and forward from the trunk? There is nothing complicated about a manual cable, it just pull the cable and there should be a reaction to it. If there is no action from the latch, no movement at all, then the cable is just broken. If there is a little movement, not enough to pull the latch to open the trunk, you still need to replace the cable.

Fuel tank filler door RELEASE LEVER will not open the fuel tank door

Fuel tank doors can be operated electrically or by cable, you say 'release lever' so that points to a cable system, if they do not open, access to the flap can be gained by removing internal trim/carpet and manually operate the lock, check if the cable is connected to the back of the lever. Good luck

Cant open the fuel tank lid. Normally just clicks open but this morning it wont open & i am unaware of a fuel lid release button/lever for this e220 1994 model.

The fuel release pull is in the trunk, pull back the carpet on that side and look. To fix the problem order a new "pod" and replace it.

I cant get the interior fuel compartment lever to release. Any ideas how to open the door so i can get to the gas cap, without tearing the door off.

have someone use something to pry it open while you pull on the lever it looks like the spring is broken or rusted off. in case you have a broken cable you can remove cable from inside trunk.

Fuel filler door my Jaguar X (2002) will not unlock

Most cars have an emergency fuel filler door release somwhere in the trunk. Look for some kind of pull cord close to the area of the outside fill door.

The lever won't open my gas tank. What can i do?

read the manual. There should be a cable in the trunk you pull as a manual release. If not pull the trunk lining fabric back away from the fuel fill area. You should see how to manually open the gas filler door

I can't get the door open to my gas tank. 2005 Honda Civic Hybri

In virtually all cars there is an emergency release mechanism located inside of the trunk. It's either a pull cord, or a means of twisting the release cable to remove the plunger from inside the fuel tank door. Look inside your trunk, pull back the liner if necessary, or feel around where the cable leads to the fuel tank door.

Once you diagnose the problem you will then know whether or not you will need to replace the release cable.

Fuel tank door release, 2004 Honda Civic

The release cable is sticking or broken. To release the fuel door, open the trunk and pull off the fabric liner on the left side of the trunk. Behind this liner is the fuel door release cable; this cable leads to the fuel door and attaches with a twist-lock connector. It is cylindrical with two tabs. Twist the connector clockwise about 90 degrees and it should pull out, releasing the door.

Just remember, the fuel door will not stay closed until you put the connector back in.

Fuel Door will not open

the cable from the lever to the door has broken. If you look inside the trunk, (sometimes you will have to pull the carpeted side down) right behind the gas door, you will find a short emergency release cable with a loop on the end - grab and pull the loop and your gas door should pop open.

GAS TANK LEVER 2001 NISSAN ALTIMA

If you can't glue the handle back on, e.g. with urethane glue (gorilla glue, Elmers Nano, etc.; use as directed, cleaning lever and plastic cover with soap and water just before gluing) then you can just buy a part like Nissan 84640-9E000 (1998 Altima exact replacement; Nissan call it a Handle- Trunk & Gas Door Release.)

That will work fine as long as the gas filler door mechanism isn't messed up; go check for obstructions once you open the door, presumably by using a small locking pliers over a cloth or some rubber on the lever (or the cable wire.)

The trick is, you get to replace it with the door open; use a blade screwdriver to pry the running-board trim up, unscrew the bolt on the trim to the left and pry that off, undo some expander bolts holding the carpet across the running-board area, and wrangle the carpet away from the lever you want to replace.  Some 10mm wrench work gets the lever loose, and you tilt the loosened stuff forwards to be able to remove the cable.  Regrease the bolts and cable run as well as you can.  Thread the new handle through the carpet before you bolt it in; it's harder to set up and bolt, but you don't have to cut the carpet or remove the seat!
