Has a mechanical oil pressure gage been hooked up to test the pressure? that is what has to be done, i suspect the gage is giving a false reading or the engine would knock and seize up very quickly.

have you replaced the oil sending unit. and check the wire to it, and also i would give the engine a oil pressure test while the sending unit is out, if you have good oil pressure then, i wouldn't worry about oil pump, i would still consider replacing the oil sending unit.

what year is your suburban? Previous model did not have ECM software to cope with carbon build-up in the throttle body intake. First car will idle rough, then will stall intermittently. Good news is that a rag and a can of carb cleaner will remove the black carbon on both sides of the throttle gate, then car will run smoothly.
Throttle body located on top, front of engine, so very simple to access.
