Does a 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera SL 3.3ltr 6 cyl have a timing in the e this car seems to drag when I hit the gas to accelerate quickly. Cutlass Ciera SL 3.3ltr

Say what? a timing in the e?? It has a timing chain, it has computer controlled timing advance, not adjustable. Um...

Such hesitation could be from old, worn spark plugs, old, worn plug wires, a dirty air filter, a dirty fuel filter. (Is your check engine light on when running? If so, look for the trouble codes.) Could be a sensor too, I think maybe the mass air flow sensor should be checked. Another sensor for this could be the throttle position sensor. If everything checks out so far, you should have the fuel pressure tested and checked. Just possibly the fuel pump needs changing. Testing the pressure will tell you.
All I can think of so far, enough to keep you busy checking?

Cant get thermostat housing off (hot water thermostat)

You will have to get the bracket out of the way, just to get the housing off and back on in an easy manner that won't cause a leak.
The hose may be the one from the valve cover area, carrying the blow by and crankcase fumes back into the intake-so part of the positive crankcase ventilation. So that hose could have a lot of carbon like deposits. See if you can twist or work it back and forth carefully. Not sure how it connects or where it comes apart, If it is plastic, sometimes they break no matter how careful- age makes them very brittle.

89 Cutlass Ciera stalls when stopped. plugs have been changed, wires, fuel pump. Any thoughts on what is wrong?

With a good air filter, and a good fuel filter you shouldn't really have any problems since the fuel pump is good. You could have a vacuum leak, this can be identified by using a can of carb. cleaner with the tube attached so that you can spray near & around your vacuum hoses & connections. If you spray near a leaking hose, or a cap, or connection that is leaking, the engine will slow or stall. Only spray a second or two & allow the engine compartment to air out between spraying as it is a flamable product.

Short of that, you could be looking at ta idle speed control motor/throttle position sensor.

Testing the vehicle with a vacuum gauge could assist in identifying any other issues such as exhaust or valves. Gauges usually come with instructions & just need to be hooked to an available intake port.

good luck.
