Some vehicles you can put the key in it and turn the ignition to on (don't start it) just till dash lights light up. Leave the key in it for 10 minutes and see if it works. Some vehicles you have to take them to the dealer to get it reflashed. If you have another key try it. Did you have a dead battery and then these symptoms appeared?

When I unlock my jeep the alarm goes off.

On some cars/trucks/SUV's, the alarm will go off if the car is unlocked with the key or if the door is opened (even from inside the car with the alarm set). Unlocking with a key does not always turn off a car alarm. Best advice, go to the dealership to get a new key-less entry remote, or get a new alarm installed with a remote to override the original alarm system.

Had to use key to unlock door. alarm goes off when

put your key in the door and turn it firmly to the unlock postion... I believe it is to the front of the car... then back to center...
The factory alarm can be armed /disarmed by the key in the door.

Jeep alarm will not turn off

The ignition security on/off is located at the trunk lock. unlock and lock rear gate and the alarm will turn off. My jeep sat in my drive for a month before a jeep tech told me this. It still triggers the security sometimes when I unlock the passenger door with the key and I go straight to the rear gate lock and it shuts off instantly.
