Question about Ford Fairmont
Ford Falcon Sedan AU model. The blinkers work most of the time but then they just stay on all the time (wont blink). Any help appreciated. Woman driver so simple instructions please.
If the indicator stays on but does not flash it will likely be the flashing unit. To repair remove the flashing unit (probably a black cube) from the fuse box under the steering wheel and take the cover off the unit with a small screwdriver. Inside the flashing unit is a capacitor which dictates how fast the indicators will flash and is most likely the faulty part. desolder the capacitor and replace with a new one of the same type (checking correct polarity) and presto indicator flashes as good as new. Putting in a different capacitor value will make indicator flash faster or slower depending on the value.
I did this recently and worked great.
Alternatively replace the whole unit.
