Question about 1992 Chevrolet Suburban

1 Answer

Fuel supply cuts in and out as if perhaps some trash is caught in the fuel line. This started only after letting it run out of gas. Fule pump is about 3 years old and all wiring, fuses and relay seem to be ok. I cannot seem to find any filter systems. Are there any?

I just installed a holley blue electric fuel pump and regulator. When I get on the highway I cant go more than a couple miles before I lose fuel pressure and have to pull off the road to refill the bowls...

Several things for you to check. I'd start with the fuel cap. Try to run the truck without a fuel cap on it and see if the problem occurs, perhaps the fuel cap is creating a vacuum and keeping the gas from flowing. Then, try taking a long hose and run it from the electric fuel pump back to the gas tank, and run the pump and see if the pump will pump continuously for 10 - 30 minutes. If this does not work, perhaps the fuel supply is blocked or the fuel line hose is collapsing between the pump and the gas in the tank.
Another thing could be is the fuel filter on the carburetor itself. Many carburetors have a screw-in fuel filter right where the gas line attaches to the carburetor that has a metal or paper filter inside. If this got dirty with all your work, perhaps that is it. Be blessed.

My 1994 BMW 740i will not run but motor is cranking turning over and trying to start to run like lack of fule.

Try spraying carb. cleaner in throttle body while turning the key. If this works, most likely have a bad fuel pump. Good Luck

Fuel pump problems. I have replaced my fuel pump on a 1995 chev 2500. Truck will not start unless i prime it with gas. Fuel is not getting to the motor. What am i missing

you may have an air leak in the fule line from the fule tank this is letting fule run back to the tank when you stop the engine running over night check all the fule pipes are air tight and do not have crossed or striped threds on them

Trouble starting montana sv6 after running out of gas what could be wrong

When you run today's vehicles out of gas, the fuel pump is pumping nothing but air, and fills the whole system with just that... air. You have to be very careful not to run out, but when you do... cycle the key on, and off several times before trying to start the vehicle, without turning the engine over. You should hear the fuel pump cut in, and then out. After it cuts out, turn the key off, and then to "on" again, and repeat. If it won't start after several trys, you may have damaged the fule pump, or at the very least, plugged the fuel filter.

The car cut off when i pressed on the gas and then i started it back up and when it cut off the second time it just cranks now

Could be fuelfilter or fule pump.or a fuel regulator. You may try taking fuel line loose at throttle body turn key to on and see how its pumping. The filter i believe runs cross ways in front of the gas tank.No need to take the plastic retainer loose to take it off

Stalls when giving it gas

these were hard to fix when they were new in 1990, question:::: does it run and rev-up hi normally in neutral/park??? with a timing light does the distributor show full advance???you claim "CUTS-OUT", like back-firing ??you may need to test the COIL, TPS (throttle position sensor) and LOOM to isolate the cause,.. try those and let me know the outcome....GL

Car starts but turns off after a 10 min or so.

This definitely sounds like a fuel pump/filter issue. Good news if it's the filter, it's only about 10 dollars to buy a new one and about 5 minutes labor, including jacking up your car.

Fuel pumps cant be a pain in the arse at times, others are fairly easy. Best way to determine if it's the fuel pump, run over to Canadian tire and pick up an ohms meter. Test the fuel pump that way.
