Question about 1994 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

My horn doesn't work on my 94 Buick Lesabre. Thought it was a worn clockspring problem but put a new one in and it still doesn't work. Thinking its something in my relay center but no fuses are blown. How can I fix it through the relay center?

Horn is hung, won`t stop blowing

unplug the horns, there should be a tenor and an alto. generally behind the grille.if you have an airbag take off the battery cables at the battery wait 5 min.the power supply must have time to lose its power. take apart the steeringwheel and remove it. if you havent seen anything wrong yet, the hornbrush is getting an incorrect path to ground. normally the centershaft of the column is where it gets a ground. since your car is aged, look for stuck switch, missing spring , broken plastic pieces, etc. in the event you had an airbag in step 2, there may be some kind of clockspring issue. tsb's are important and kept up by gm for this because an airbag is a supplemental restraint. tsb info and recall info is free at the public library. the horn power and ground wires would plug into the clockspring from below. the hornswitch(es) would plug into the clocksping from above it. switches can be tested with an ohmmeter but other tests often require specific tools to simulate the clockspring upon its removal during testing. if your schematic shows a relay, and the switches arent causing it, the relay could be stuck. since this is a 99 vehicle you should have no trouble getting a schematic at the library. since the horns are unplugged, you can drive to have it looked at as well

Where is the horn(s) located on a 1999 buick lesabre custom?

It doesn't matter where you "hit" the steering wheel, both horns are wired to sound at the same time. You could have a defective horn relay, but more likely you have defective horn(s). Oh, and you'll find the horns under the hood somewhere adjacent to the engine

sounds like you have a short in the clock spring assembly behind the steering wheel, remove the plastic cover from the steering colum and unplug the connector for the horn reinstall fuse and make sure it dosent blow while horn is unplugged, replace clockspring if fault is gone

2005 Chevy Aveo. The horn button acts as a ground for the horn. The ground goes from the button through the airbag clockspring which is where i lost ground on my Aveo. Most likely need to replace the clockspring or rewire the ground, which is what i did! Hope this helps!

Hello: Remove the cover on the fuse box, on the inside there should be a key to follow. also check the fuse box under the dash for the same.

My '94 buick lesabre's horn keeps sticking, how can it be fixed?

most likely the horn pad has gone bad. it will need to be replaced. there are 2 contact plates that are held apart with foam and the foam deteriates and the plates make contact. Sometimes its possible to make a new piece to put in there, but its tricky. if you take it apart you will see what I mean.
