How often to change tranmission fluid on a 2002 lincoln ls

Hi Gary,

There is a small dilema here. The Owner's Manual for your Lincoln says to refer to the Maintenance schedule to find the proper interval for replacing your transmission fluid. Here is where the problem arises: The Maintenance schedule published for your vehicle says to replace the transmission fluid at 30,000 mile intervals for several transmission models. Then it "excepts" the models that are not lsted by transmission model number in the preceeding text - yours is not listed.

Then, when I go to the service manual and search by your vehicle (2000 Lincoln LS) it says to replace the transmission fluid at 30,000 mile intervals without any exceptions.

Here is what I recommend to my customers:

CHECK the fluid every 30,000 miles and REPLACE the fluid and filter every 60,000 miles. I have found that this works for almost every make and model out there. I have several customers with over 300,000 miles on their cars that have never had transmission overhauls.

My 2000 Quest has 170,000 miles and the timing belt broke while I was driving it. Luckily there was no damage to the engine. I want to trade it in and my husband wants to keep. We have not kept up with...

This engine is freewheeling, as requested by Ford for the joint venture program with the Mercury Villlager. So, no engine damage if timing belt breaks. Just install a new belt and maybe the water pump while you are therre and new other belts. It will run another 100,000 miles.

The RPM's fluctuate after the car warms up. I think I need a tune-up.

The maintenance tune ups, for most of the cars, are scheduled at 30K, 60K , 90K miles. If you are late on the scheduled maintenance tune up, of course your car needs it, but to find the problem you need a "Check and Advice", only at Volvo dealer. It cost $65 to $100, on the top of tune up cost.

180,000 mile scheduled service

looking at my repair manual....the ford expedition only goes to a 60,000 mile schedule. so my input would be that the dealer will run a computer check which is $95 minimum and go from there. They will also run a drivetrain check and performance check. they will probably check for leaks, serpentine belt wear, front end and brake issues etc..basically everything and anything you ask for. i usually do all my own preventative maintenance. if they try to tell you something is wrong and you have not had any problems i would get a second opinion from a reputable garage before i would let the clowns start dismantling your vehicle.

How do you know when youneed a tune up on a 2001ford taurus

Owner's manula will specify what needs to be done and when under the maintence chart. Newer cars generally go 60,000 to 100,000 miles before needing to replace the spark plugs. On most cars that is about all you do besides changing the oil (generally every 3,000 mile). Read the owner's manual and don't let a shop or a dealer sell you on the idea of speeding up the maintenance schedule (replacing things at 60,000 when the manual says to wait until 100,000).

Toyota 4Runner/maintenance schedule at 140K miles

The maintenance schedule is an outline and should be followed if you want to keep your vehicle in good condition. the maintenance items listed in the schedule are performed at their set intervals for a reason. Manufacturers have found the wear limits on certain parts and those parts may need to be serviced or replaced at those intervals or catastrophic failures may result.

Need stock maintenance schedule for 96 ford mustang 3.8ltr.?

At 100,000 miles u need to replace the spark plugs and check/inspect the rest of the ignition components and repalce as needed, in most cases everything will be fine, change interval for air filter and fuel filter is every 30,000 miles, the transmission (auto only) should have a fluid and filter change at 60,000, also the brakes should be inspected 20,000-30,000 miles depending on how you drive and where u drive (city, hiway etc.).
