SOURCE: my car won't turn over
does this car have a safety device that won't let you start the engine unless the clutch is pushed in???
if so that little switch on the clutch pedal could be faulty.

SOURCE: car wont start
Assuming power is getting to the starter fine I'd have to guess the starter is worn and may require replacement. I'd investigate the starter motor.
I hope this may have helped,

did you have the battery light on when the car was running
try a new battery see if that solves it if not then it is the alternator

You are correct it is the starter and this is very common when the starter goes bad, this is what we call a dead spot and sometimes tapping will make it start but will act up again, the starter is located in the rear of the engine, you would need to get to it from under the car, its on the driverside at the rear of the enigne,
