The belt itself may not be that expensive, but the labor to change it is typically about four hours. It is also a very good idea to replace the water pump at the same time if the pump is mounted behind the belt. You do not want to do this job twice, and most water pumps have about the same lifespan as the belt. The total job can easily cost $500 to $600.

Cost for timing belt replacement, 1991 wrangler

The belt cost about $35 at Autozone, and it depends on the garage on cost, I would say no more then $50 to do this.

As a side note it takes about 10 min or less to change this belt with a simple hand tools, however replacing the belt tensioner is recommended if worn out, as this will eat your new belt.

Hope this helps.

What else needs to be changed when doing a timing belt on a 1999 honda accord? and about how much should it cost?

Technically, nothing else needs to be changed when replacing a timing belt, however it is recommended or suggested to replace the timing belt tensioner and water pump while doing the belt. These items are only accessable when doing a timing belt. The cost should be under $100.00

When should the timing belt be replaced on a 2004 Accent and how much should it cost

Suggested replacement is 60,000 miles....

Cost of belt--start at $50.00

Labor---average is $89.00 an hour....

Figure at least 3 hours and the garage bumping the cost of the belt by $20-30 also.

Timing Belt

Normally my Honda Dealership replaces the Timing Belt, Water Pump, Valve Cover Gasket, Crank and Cam Seals all in one shot. Service life is about the same for all of them and the Honda Tech is right there anyway to do the Timing Belt, which saves the customer the Labor Cost of coming back later to do it. Prevents us from getting the customer back a couple of months later mad that they have to pay almost the same amount of labor again for another part to be replaced.
Normally they will also replaces the exterior belts if they have not already been replaced.
Go to www.repairpal.org for what the local cost are to be expected in your area, just keep in mind that it only lists the timing belt by it’s self there.

When to replace timing belt? what's the avg. cost?

I recommend 60-90K Cost depends on the dealerships labor but usually when your doing a timing belt, radiator hoses and fan belts are removed and should be replaced while your in there. Its about 3hrs, more if other things need to be replaced while in there. So you looking at $300+ for labor only

Timing Belt Repair Cost

Timing belt replacement should be about 30 dollars for the belt and 2-3 hours of shop time at whatever shop rate is in your location. Is your car still running? if it is, you definately want to have this done, if the belt breaks, valves in the cylinder head will be bent
