Your out of time. When you put gas in the intake directly you are technically flooding the system which is why it works. Make sure you have the #1 TDC on the compression stroke. (Cylinder all the way up and both valves closed) Then verify your timing marks are lined up correctly.

Cleaning throttle plate and MAF sonsor

TO clean the throtle plate use a small tooth brush and some throtle body cleaner. remove the intake hose, spray the throtlebody and then open the throtle plate and spray plate , use brush to clean body and plate then spray clean try not to spray to much into engine , after its clean then start the engine you may have to hold gas pedal down to start as it going to be a little load up with fuel from the cleaner, some time sit will start up on its on and run a little rough for a few seconds and clear up. As far as the mass sensor this needs to be cleaned with mass air flow cleaner, this is a spray like the throtle spray but is made for that sensor and drys fast, spray the two sensors inside but dont touch them or move them spray as close to them as you can to clean them, good luck.

I have a 1993 GMC Safari van code W engine with automatic transmission, cruise control. It is central port injection. My problem is it is it will not start. I have change the all parts in the distributor,...

Spray some carburetor cleaner into the engine an see if it starts ! I don't think 58 psi fuel pressure is enought ! Has to be above 60 psi .415-455 kPa (60-66 psi).

97 jimmy runs when you pour gas into throttle body, fuel pumps is putting out 55 to 56 psi. but will not pickup the gas from the injectors, fuel manifold psi is 55 to 56psi. 1997 4.3 vortec engine

If the 8th letter of the VIN # is W which i bet it is than your fuel pressure is to low.

This engine uses a CPI unit to deliver fuel to the cylinders. The CPI unit consists of a central injector that feeds fuel to the poppet valve that are right above the intake valves. The poppet valves require high fuel pressure in order to open and deliver fuel to the cylinders at start up.

The reason why it starts and runs if you add a little gas through the throttle body is that once the vehicle is running the intake is under vacuum. The poppets can open with less fuel pressure in a vacuum. This is a real common scenario with these style injection systems.

A new good quality fuel pump (a/c delco or delphi are good pumps) and your fuel pressure should be back into spec of 58 psi or more and the vehicle should fire right up. Make sure you replace the fuel filter when you replace the pump.

2005 no start astro van how to check if fuel pump is bad.

Open the hood ,remove the air box for the engine but leave the mass air flow sensor on.Get some carb cleaner and spray it in the air intake tube while someone tries to start the van and if it fires and runs on the cleaner it is defanetly a fuel issue and most likely the fuel pump.If you have a fuel pressure gague you can remove the engine cover inside the van and connect to the fuel pressure port to see what u have for fuel pressure which should be between 55-65 psi to run.

Turns over but wont start.

Start by checking if it's a fuel or fire problem. Take a plug wire off and turn motor over.If there is fire, Take the hose going from the air cleaner to the throtle body off and spray a small amount of carb. cleaner in.If it's a fuel prob.,check the fuel pump relay (under the hood in a black box) (swap the relay out with another relay in the box ) If the relay is o.k., it's probly the fuel pump. If it;s a fireing prob., start with the coil and wires going to the coil.

Car stopped and cannot get it to fire. Spark is ok.

The injectors are checked with a computer. You can either buy a adapter and download the software for your computer or you can buy a hand held or you can take it in to be checked. Before doing any of this. remember all ars have the same things to check.
1 air
2 fuel
3 fire

so start with air. Make sure air is getting from the filter to the throtle body.

then check fuel. you said you are getting fuel but are you getting fuel at the correct psi. for a couple of bucks you can buy a fuel psi guage and check if you are getting the right amount.

then if all is good next fire. Check your plugs, check the psi from your head. For a couple of bucks once again, you can buy a tester that fits directly into each spark plug hole. ake sure you are getting the correct psi in each piston. if not you probably have a bad head gasket. Also check your coil, and spark plug wires.

if it isn't any of these then go to the computer. you probably have a sensor gone bad at this point. If you need any help on any of this just ask me for som advise I check my email every day.

did you check the fuel pressure? there is a sharder valve on the fuel rail to do this. i know you have to have a certain amount of pressure in order for it to run.i think on fuel injection its around 60 to 70 psi.and on throtle body is around 30 to50.psi. i also know if you run your truck low on fuel alot it will burn up the pump gas is what keeps pump cool. also you said you found a pluged filter witch over time will burn up the pump. hope this helps.
