Like to other guy said, give it a tuneup. Also try SEAFOAM to clean carb up of slug. Also check to make sure the butter fly for the choke has not come loose, causing it the choke it down. Failed choke pull-off.

The thermostat has stuck open. Or you are low on coolant becasue of a leak somewhere. Either way once it sets the code you will need to fix it to make it not set again. The t stat is not easy it's not the one on top of the engine it's on the side behind the alternator.
Also make sure the water pump doesn't have any play. Grab onto the the fan and move it front and back, If there is a clunking feeling or you can see it move alot then you need to replace that also.
Just make sure it's not running when you try and grab the fan. LOL
